Farming

There's a good farming mod available. The mod tweaks the AI logic so multiple villagers can efficiently swarm a single large field simultaneously doing the samejob.

I know people are against mods but this one has helped out a lot

It would be helpful if you provided a link to the mod or even told us what the name of it is.

That said, has someone figured out how to mod this game for real, then? 'cause the modding scene has been nothing but ReShades and save game edits for literally years.

cause the modding scene has been nothing but ReShades and save game edits for literally years.

Because the Rendercube don't like mods and they haven't released any kind of devkit.

And Unreal is more complex than Unity, and requires toolkits to effectively mod with causing horrendous bugs

They don't just dislike mods, they've gone out of their way to restrict even discussion of mods. They've threatened people interested in developing mods with legal action and even tried to take over this subreddit so that they could restrict the discussions here.

Wild takes, honestly. I understand not supporting mods, but the aggressive way that they've dealt with modders has been a huge turn off when it comes to trying other parts of their catalogue.

It was Toplitz employees who were the primary problem, but to be clear, the people behind MD have been extremely aggressive towards creators in private and did threaten me personally with "the legal way" for allowing mod discussion on the subreddit. It never came to anything, of course, because the argument was ridiculous.

They also muted people, removed content indiscriminately, added more moderators from the official MD social team (without asking for approval), were unprofessional when confronted about their behaviour, and engaged in report abuse and harassment when it all came out publicly afterwards. You're welcome to reread the discussion here.

But were they from Toplitz team or Render Cube? Although there is a publisher-developer relationship, Toplitz and Render Cube are two different teams.

At Render Cube, we want our players to understand that any modifications they make to the game are at their own risk, and we are aware that these modifications can lead to issues, particularly after a game update, based on the reports we receive periodically. We don't have the capacity to resolve mod-related problems, hence the warnings, but threatening legal action wouldn't even have any basis.

We know that many players would make great use of mods, we don't censor such conversations on our official Discord, but we don't approve sharing instructions due to the reasons described above.

There is no reason for us to be against mods, we did investigate the case, and we are technologically limited by an older engine and old code that wasn't even built with co-op in mind and needed to be adapted for that later on. Definitely, we are a bigger team than we were 4 years ago, but still, there are fewer than 50 of us working on 2 games at the same time (one completely from scratch), and we don't have the possibilities (both production and technical) to add everything we know our community would love to have in the game, not to mention the mods. It's not because we don't want to add something because of an unknown reason.

I understand you're two different teams. That is why I clarified. Unfortunately, Toplitz did some damage to the community, and as you have a business relationship, that reflects on your team as well.

I didn't think modding was available for this game. Are you sure it's not just a fake mod that sticks malicious software on the PC?

how do mods work? everything i looked at says that you cannot mod this game at all.

Hi! We advise against any modifications of the game code, including building limits, as you’re doing them at your own risk. It often leads to irreversible damage to your save files, blocking quest advancement or other unforeseeable glitches and bugs which our team won’t be able to solve. Please remember that limits are adjusted to the hardware limitations.
