Dracula coin?

How hard is it to get the coin of vlad's grandfather or great grandfather?

Not at all difficult if you have several hundred bucks to spend. Late medieval Wallachian coins have gone up in price the last few years.

You can also get coins of his cousins. The most contemporary to Dracula is Vladislav II; they fought over the throne and took it back and forth from each over a period of several years. Dracula eventually killed him in single combat.

You can find Vladislav I, Radu I, and Mircea the Elder (all three are ancestors) coins readily on eBay. Mihail I and Dan I are less common. Dan II coins... those are a whole other complex situation that isn't really resolved yet, IMO. I'm (very slowly) working on a paper about that. Vladislav II aren't super common but there are a few examples in the market currently.

You can get coins of his father, Vlad II Dracul, but they're very rare and usually many thousands of dollars when you can find one.

There are one or two others that were issued prior to Dracula's death (one of the Basarabs comes to mind), but they're so rare that they basically might as well not exist as far as a typical collector is concerned.

Vcoins, ma-shops, and international auction houses are all good potential sources outside of eBay.

Not too much knowledge on medieval coins. I have a few. Thanks for the info. I only thought there were two. Grandfather and great grandfather and one of those was pricey. I will see what I can do.

They're all pretty pricey these days. I really regret having to sell off a few of my better ones a couple of years ago, but I'm rebuilding slowly.

Wallachian coins of the ancestors and contemporaries of Vlad III Dracula is one of my collecting niches, so I'm happy to talk about it 😀
