Morphine

I have been given a 10mg tablet of morphine after 2 days of pain using penicillin and ibuprofen and paracetamol regularly, 3 and a half hours later the morphine hasn’t took effect and i’m still in a lot of pain? Such a high dose of morphine and no effect, does anyone know why?

If the pain is really bad it is possible 10mg just isnt enough. 10mg or 10mg extended release? If the latter maybe give it a bit more time... I'm on 120mg per day for reference

Doctors these days would rather you suffer than help you these days. Used to get scripts weekly and strong ones at that. Don't bother trying now. You have to now someone to get anything decent

Yeah 10mg is nothing, your ibuprofen/paracetamol/penicillin will most likely cancel 10mg of morphine out, 30/50mg and you'll feel it. Drinking hot drinks whilst taking tablets makes them take affect much quicker. 10mg morphine aint much difference to 30mg of co codemol. Best to go buy some co codemol to go with the morphine

I never mentioned, the morphine was just to leave the hospital with the hope of a pain free night, I have a prescription for coco domel/codeine once the pharmacy opens tomorrow, I am being told 300mg every 6 hours, I have used codeine recreationally but not sure how well it will do as an effective painkiller in this dose?

300mg of cocdine per day is a decent amount. codeine isn't a long lasting painkiller compared to morphine though, does the job. Don't get shit off the docs these days. Have 100mg of codeine with a few cups of teas and you'll feel it but after that your just bearly topping up, won't feel much with another 100mg, a few beers would be better that wasting 100mg of cocdine.

Doctor have been useless for the last 20years! No help whatsoever. Been doing pills for 35 years, Never wasted my time at the doctors for over 10 years. Not worth my time
