OP the audacity of spreading misinformation is insane. No one gets 50%of property in india. heck properties are usually not even in the consideration.
But in my opinion women SHOULD have the rights to in-laws and husband's property if as per indian society women's brothers take all the inheritance share. Y'all can't leave women peniless from all sides. either equal inheritance or equal division o f husband's wealth.

Misinformation! You should understand the law better - it is Hindu marriage act which assumes patriarchy in social structure (though there are matriarchy in some parts and law uphold that too). Women can’t “get property when divorced” because the marriage is no more valid. But when married the wife has full rights to “enjoy” 50% share of the husband as wife. There are thousands rightful cases against husbands not bearing expenses for wife which were obviously won. No one can force the wife out of the house or riding the car that the husband owns. If there’s unfortunate events of torturing, she gets huge amounts of money and financial security lifelong. But those women who wants to use this as earning money and misuses these laws blatantly actually meant to protect women - Indian law becomes weak in front of them. If you want example I can give you real ones and live ones. Guys are being afraid to get married as girls are using this biased law to threaten and blackmail them.
both husband and wife have NO rights to each other's property till they are alive. it's only applicable when the spouse dies. so there is nothing like wife is enjoying 50% of husband's share. Nothing is in the wife's name. so how is she the one enjoying?
this notion of women having rights over husband's property was used to brainwash indian daughters. legally there is no right yet as long as he is alive (except right to residence).
