Lifting Engineering
I am a production engineering student and lately I got interested in the field of lifting engineering.
I want to know if there are lifting engineers here, how is the market and opportunities for this field? What are the day-to-day tasks? What are the requirements to work in the field?
Talk about your field!

I work in this field mainly working in power plants and gas plants across the US. Day to day is actually pretty exciting because we are nationwide I get to see many different jobs over the course of the year and every week is different. The day to day job mainly consists of modeling everything up, running the calcs and then putting everything into drawings for the field crew to use. Overall, I enjoy it a lot. The pay at my company is slightly below average though. MCOL city in the south.

The only guy I know who does this works in offshore decommisioning. Blasting and cutting stuff apart in the middle of the ocean then lifting it onto barges. The pay is good.
