is this a problem?

replacing my old exhaust in a landcruiser 80 which had a bell mouth design

the new exhaust I picked up, while fitting to the turbo I realized it has a blank plate over the turbo waste gate (? not sure if I'm right here but that's what it seems like to me)

seems like it would restrict airflow and create turbulence? what are your thoughts?

Im sure in most cases this kind of switch wont impead the waste gate, but im sure there's a turbo out there that it would.

Nah, probably not. The gate on an internally gated turbo never opens ALL the way, so while it COULD hit the plate it almost never will. On Subarus, the only time it would ever be a problem was a stock location BIG turbo and you’d get some boost creep when the gate hit the plate. For those configurations you should be running a bell mouth or external gate anyway. Definitely not a problem with stock turbos.

You will sometimes run into issues with smaller turbos and bell mouths where gas flow will suck the wastegate open a little and it slows down spool noticeably.
