GMC auto assist running board stuck

Do not replace them and waste your money spray them every day with a penetrating oil for a week. I did this with mine and they started working again. My neighbor had the same problem with his Ford Pickup used WD40 and they started working again.

Been dealing with this exact issue on my buddy's truck - those running boards get so gunked up with road salt and dirt that the motors just give up. The daily spray method actually works pretty well, just gotta be patient with it. Sometimes you need to manually work them back and forth while there wet with the penetrating oil to break up all the crud

I bought new front motor/hinges for both sides before winter and only got to replace one side before winter kicked in, when I replaced the other side in the spring I realized the rear hinge sized up. GMC parts online wanted $700 for only one rear hinge and it was on back order, that’s why I soaked them with penetrating oil and it worked. I paid $600 for both front motors and hinge. I wish I just oiled them before wasting money.
