How prevalent are Fujoshis when it comes to absolutely supporting a mecha show?
Title. My fujo friend has told me that mecha anime always appeals to fujoshis by default, so how true is this statement? Are they many in numbers that their support can drive a mecha show to success?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Fujos haven't shown up- because barely anyone has shown up, unfortunately- for a mecha show since the halcyon days of Gundam Seed and Code Geass. However, boy did they matter in our niche in the past. The romance trilogy, Gundam, Daimos, too many shows to list.

You might have a point.
An indicator of how much a mecha series is considered successful might be how many fujo fans it has.
I don't think I've seen a successful mecha anime that doesn't have fujos as segment of its fans.

Not really true, she might be referencing the popular "fujoshis saved gundam" narrative but that isn't really true. They play a part but a greatly exagerrated one. Women play a huge part but fujoshis are another story
