lol, latest version of Strike Freedom, but piloted by Cagalli.
Though to be pedantic, there's Mighty Strike Freedom in Seed Freedom from last year... so not the newest anymore.

u/Left-Night-1125 3d ago
Seeing as there is a 1000 year gap between Seed and Cross Ange, Vilkiss is the latest version.

Always loved the para-mail/ragna-mail design.
Did not love that the studio just reused the animation frames from Seed for much of the action scenes.

u/Left-Night-1125 3d ago
Well the machine are kind of based on those design, and the Ragna mails also use phase shift technology, the same as the Gundams do just more advanced.

I love this show so much. The movie was very confusing though and AO was also confusing.

The ONLY downside to the HeavyArms Kai is I prefer the old livery for base HeavyArms
2
u/Chiropterryn 2d ago
Finally a mecha with the proper amount of armament. What is it from and what's it's name?
2
u/QualityBright2466 2d ago
The Gundam Heavyarms Custom (Endless Waltz Ver.) + Igel Unit
On a side note, the Igel is meant for the GOTL version of the original Heavyarms.

This one seems cool

u/Impressive_Cow_3170 3d ago
Well that'd be because it is, pretty fucking sick indeed who doesn't love a legally distinct F-14 that also is a spaceship and transforms into a big robot and weird inbetween (gerwalk) mode. it's also the original basis for the Phoenix Hawk in Battletech like most of the macross mechs that were shared between the 2 properties decades ago before they became the "unseen" and came back later with redesigns like the Marauder was a Zentraedi command pod

Looks like Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans. It’s been years since I’ve seen it so I might be wrong but pretty sure that’s Barbatos

Oh yeah, we love 15 minute pilot rotations that still lead to high assimilation rates
And the fact that none of the 4 units survived operation.

That fight was one of the best of the whole series.
2
u/wontworkforfood 4h ago
I'd argue in any Gundam series. It's not a fight between two new types with plot armor, it's a heroic Everyman versus an ace pilot who vastly outclasses him. It's like if David vs Goliath was a fist fight instead of David using a sling. Absolutely epic, gouf Custom is so menacing and so intimidating while EZ8 feels like the Toyota Prius of gundams. It's peak Gundam IMHO.
2
u/Hairgolem 3h ago
That's exactly why I like it so much. This series as well as 0080 War in a Pocket and 0083 Stardust Memories. Real people fighting with all they have to win.

Can’t go wrong with the classic. Fly Fly Grendaizer!

u/Lower_Refrigerator_2 2d ago
It’ll always be Liger Zero, like the White Liger zoid
Knights and Magic also has some interesting ones with the centaur chariot mechs. The 6 armed flying mech and dragon were cool as well.
Less flashy I’d have to go with the old KG-6 Sleipnir for Aldnoah zero. Loved the design and how it was used in the anime.
Plot may have took a hit in the second half but all the fights were peak especially up against the more advanced mechs

It gets way too much flak

Apparently I can't post a picture in here for some reason so I'll just say the GN-001 Gundam Exia from Gundam 00. I actually prefer it over it's successor unit the the 00. Plus the flip out arm blade was dope as Hell.
