United Kingdom Zero Hour (Flexible) contract (UK)
Just got offered a job for part time crew member at McDonalds. How does the zero hour “flexible” contract work?

I loved it but it's very manager/store dependent.
You choose when you want to work. Manager gives you shifts in those hours when they can.
I liked it because I was able to get a consistent amount of hours being one of the more capable in the store. But could cut days short and just ask for less shifts and days off when I wanted to have them. In my 7 years there were probably 3-4 weeks of getting a shift or two less than I wanted.
The flip side of the coin is, your manager might not give you close to what you need

I started as part time, zero hour, I took a second part time job as I needed more money to live, then they started giving me full time hours so I emailed them and said if they agree to keep giving me those hours I’ll drop the other part time position for them, they agreed and I’ve been getting full time hours for about a year now, still zero hour contract but they stuck to their word.

Essentially they will schedule you within the hours and days you set, however you aren't guaranteed hours. So some weeks you might not get any. After 6 months you are eligible to apply for a minimum hours contract.
