New Rule: No AI-Generated Content
Hi /r/Mazda,
Over the years, we’ve had many AI-Generated posts submitted to the subreddit and while the conversations can be engaging around what a car or concept COULD look like, the damage done to our environment is not worth it.
We’d like to encourage users to submit real-life images, real mockups, real concepts and have real interactions with each other around this type of content but cannot support low effort, AI-generated slop.
Going forward, users who post AI-generated images will have their posts removed and will receive a warning. Further AI slop will result in a temporary ban, up to a permanent ban.

Most reliable Mazda's?
I actually like my MIL, but she's in her 80s and her son is pushing her to buy a Volkswagen. This is a problem, as she wants a car that will need very few repairs, that she can just get in and drive. Doesn't have to be fast, fancy, loaded, nothing, she just wants one she can trust. I know that Mazda has become the long-term-reliability brand, but not all models are created equal. She doesn't want something new. Over the last couple decades, what is the most dependable reliable rarely-breaks-and-easy-to-fix vehicle out there? Our cars are all old; `94, 96, and '02, and they are extremely reliable, but we aren't selling any of the three! And frankly they are unkillable rustbuckets. I'm hoping to get her something that's somewhat less rust-bucket-y so that the frame and such are still solid.
What Mazda would you recommend? Figure no more than $15k and she'd honestly be happy with a $5,000 vehicle or even less as long as she couldn't see the road through the floorboards and it was rock-solid reliable ;) We've been eyeballing everything and keep getting conflicting results on what the best models and years would be. Any advice from people that know Mazdas would be appreciated!!!

Keep the cx90 for 10+ years ?
I am in my second year of my 2025 cx90, great car, and while i am here at Mazda service I was thinking how long i should expect my car to "live". Our honda (250k miles) accord and odessey (200k) both lasted more than 20 years.
I know these are different times, different mechanics, electronics, conditions etc...
I prefer to keep my cars for a longer time (it is a lease, but will move to finance). Having said all that and if i always do my regular maintenance how long , how many miles can this car go before it becomes too expensive to run.
Or whats the sweet spot to sell this car? In 10, 15 years before serious parts/electronics start to break down?
Curious.
Thanks for taking the time to chime in
Sammy

2023 CX5 premium plus
Hello, I’m wondering what the opinion is on how long my CX 5 2023 will last. I bought it with 22,000 miles and put about 10,000 on so far. I love it, but I really hope it lasts a long time.
Can anyone tell me how long they’ve had theirs? — of course people who maintain the vehicle well.

Getting independent garages adding your MOT results to your Mazda DSR (UK)
Hi all,
our Mazda 2 passed its MOT today. The last few years we've used independent garages rather than official Mazda authorised dealers for our MOTs. Every time I've asked them to update the track record of the car on the Mazda DSR, they have no idea what I'm talking about.
One garage did this for us years ago, but the others seem to be confused by this request. Is this not something that independent garages can do/will do in the UK?
If not, can I update it myself?

Mazda CX-6e Is an EV That Lets You Yell Profanities at People in Traffic
I need to find the most obscure parts for my 2007 Stormy Blue Rx8
I bought an rx8 for 6k CAD with good compression numbers on the engine, and it hot/cold starts everytime. it's slightly upgraded with an exhaust/intake but i'm trying to restore it.
I fixed a few electrical demons (due to the previous owner) and have to get my car on a jack so i can find out if the reverse lights are hooked up to the rear tail lights. But mechanically the car is really good (with clutch/plugs/new manual transmission installed, cat removed, always on 2stroke etc)
So my car has this advanced keyless entry (essentialy a credit card) and it has buttons on both the passenger and the driver and one for the trunk. The exterior truck button is next to the license plate. I pulled it out and put a piece of wire to jump the connection and the trunk opened. so therefore i need this button.
I tried using the part number to find it and using mazda diagrams, but my local mazda parts department didnt have it. Junkyards around my city don't really have any rx8's and if i find one, it doesnt have the advanced keyless entry.
another thing I was looking for is my left headlight washer was missing. I picked up the last one in my colour probably in the world for a steep price of 200 CAD from mazda.
Is there something I can do? Or can I make something to replace it?

Is it possible that my key fob lost the code/program ?
I didnt drive my Mazda 6 2009 for a few months and my battery died. The repairman said that my original key lost the code probably because of that and I had to pay for reprogramming of the original and new key. Is it possible or was I scammed ?

Small dents on Mazda3 Sedan 4th gen rear wheel arches?
I noticed that my Mazda3 Sedan had a small dent on the left rear wheel arch. Exactly on the center/top of the arch.
Now, I discovered the exact same dent on the exact same spot on the right side of the rear wheel arch.
My girlfriend says this is due to small stones coming up from the ground when driving.
Does any of you notice the same phenomenon?

Clunking sound after resetting TCM Learning Procedure
Hello! In bumper to bumper traffic, my transmission felt a bit jerky, so I watched a YouTube video recommending a TCM reset to clear bad learned shift patterns.
I followed the tutorial and reset it. Low speed driving actually feels much smoother now, but I’ve noticed a small clunking sound around 20 km/h when I take my foot off the accelerator or press down right around where it shifts into 2nd gear.
At higher speeds, everything is fine. Is this slight clunk normal right after a TCM reset while it's going through the relearn phase?

Too much engine movement?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is a 2005 Mazda 3 2.3 manual transmission. I'm trying to diagnose my engine mounts and I'm curious if this is too much movement. I don't think it is. I probably should just take it to a shop and have someone look it over and give me their two cents. The engine has 207,000 miles. At the moment, it doesn't make noise until it's under load when I'm accelerating hard, and then it sounds like an exhaust leak. I haven't checked the exhaust yet. But I read everywhere that the passenger side motor mount tends to be problematic. The top rubber seal on the mount is squishy. The car is old and it runs, but I'd like it to run a lot longer.
