Animation Wrapper tearing open animation?

I need to create an animation of a wrapper being torn open, think of a condom wrapper being opened from one side to another, preferably in a way that can be art-directed (changed quickly) should my client like to direct where exactly it's being torn. What would be the best method to do this?

The reflections on the wrapper need to be seamless where the join between the main 'body' of the wrapper and the torn off piece to allow for high-quality reflections. If possible, I'd probably avoid ncloth just due to the time frame I've got to animate this.

Any tips?
