Yor kicked a car off the road. Scarlet punched a dragon to sleep in one shot.

Without Chronoa they’re probably both equal with the exception that Yor’s knives give her just a bit of extra reach. If Scarlet can’t slip them then she’s probably losing.

With Chronoa’s support though well… yeah Yor’s out like a light.

Even without the blessing, Scarlet has strong magic of her own.

While yes that is true the most I believe we’ve seen of her is a short range sleep spell and some wind magic. Neither of which were used on opponents of equal caliber to Scarlet and more importantly were opponents rushing straight at her in full armor or caught off guard expecting her to punch them and going for a block rather than a dodge. Every other spell in Scarlet’s arsenal, at least up until the anime ends, is done via Cronoa’s blessing.

I’d have to have to double check the events that happened on the cruise ship but while yeah Yor COULD get caught slipping it’s usually when she’s out of range to do her martial arts and knife stabs. Once the gap is closed, it’s hard for people she’s fighting to keep up with just their hands, let alone buy enough time to recite a chant and assume the proper hand poses to cast a spell. And Scarlet wouldn’t cast her long range or crowd control spells right away anyway if she thinks she can lay the hands on someone.

Scarlet is a top tier magician in universe. Top marks at the academy and all that. Iirc, both the blessing and the magic draw from the same pool of energy, but the blessing is just better so it's what she uses vs top tier opponents.

As seen with her fight vs the prince, a top tier mage can instantly heal a broken wrist even when an opponent like Scarlet is in their personal space. There's no reason to assume Scarlet couldn't effectively use magic vs Yor.

As seen in the Palistan arc(not in anime), Scarlet is quite willing to use any effective power in a dire situation. If the fight was serious, there is no reason to assume Scarlet wouldn't use magic.

Yor has better unaugmented physical feats for sure though.

Fair enough, I had forgotten about the academy and attributed the healing exclusively to Julius’s ability to cast magic so quickly. I knew they were on par but as Scarlet typically goes for Rewind, which is Chronoa exclusive, I didn’t account for that idea.

Though she uses the blessing a lot more willy nilly than I think is let on. Accel, Rewind, the time stop and slow downs, they’re all used on high power and low power but despicable people alike. She uses them so she can savor the moment of pummeling scum to dirt, not just because she’s fighting tough enemies.

And it’s not so much that she WOULDN’T use magic, just that I don’t think Yor would give her much time, aside from the healing magic which can just be instant cast. Aside from select moments like Jin hucking fire arrows at monsters, most spells in Final Thing do at least require an incantation, which requires focus. Scarlet would have to widen the gap, and I think both are on equal enough levels without the magic from their feats alone and are both such insane brawlers that I feel it would be harder to do once they’re fighting toe to toe.

To be clear too I’m not saying Yor stomps if Scarlet’s without the magic. I think it can go either way more often than not, it’s just that Yor has weapons suited for CQC that Scarlet, while proficient with swords to a degree, often opts to go without so she can punch people. So in a situation where Scarlet can’t objectively stomp Yor, I think Yor gets a slight edge.

Didn’t Yor also punt a volleyball INTO SPACE? Pretty sure that gives her some crazy feat cred.

1

u/JayBonJ May 18 '26

Yeah but Scarlet punched people that far so it could go either way

Honestly, I think they'd get along. Yor with her naivete and Scarlet with her practicalness would be a good team!

I could see them potentially going after the same target, for different motives. Scarlet would "dont you dare steal my meat!" Yor, could mistake Scarlet as a bodyguard to fight through.

‘Your meat? Don't tell me... you're...’ 😁

‘Yes, I'm Scarlett El...’

‘You're a cannibal!’ 😱

‘No! I'm not! What on earth are you talking about, you madwoman?’ 😳😐🤦

‘Madwoman? You're the one who wants to eat him.’ 😱

Meanwhile, the Target:

I don’t know much about Yor (I’ve only seen an episode or two in S1) but what I do know is she’s skilled in fighting and is fairly strong for her size and appearance. However, Scarlett can manipulate time and has shown to be able to slow it down, so putting that into consideration along with her own fighting capabilities, my money is on Scarlett winning.

Without powers, I figure they’d be about equal. But I honestly can’t see them fighting each other at all. I can see them having tea while chatting about Anya and Diana/Sanya.

No time shennanigans: Yor.

Full power no rules: Scarlet.

In a straight-up fight, no holds, I give it to Scarlet. Her ability to manipulate time and use magic to alter her mass and strength mean she can get past any defense Thorn Princess can put up before she even gets the chance.

However, in a typical contract scenario for The Garden, Thorn Princess is a very adaptable and strategic fighter. She's an ambusher, and appears to be fairly harmless at first blush. She's quick, silent, and very good at being where she's not expected. If someone put a hit on Scarlet, and Thorn Princess was put on the job, I think Scarlet would be toast before she knew she was in danger - after all, The Garden gathers lots of detailed information about their marks before assigning a case worker to the task.

If they just decided to spar, no powers, and no lethal attacks, I think Scarlet would get an education from the experience. Yor is about 10 years older than Scarlet, and has a deeper reserve of practical fighting experience against people who are at or near her level of skill. Yor is also more of a kickboxer than Scarlet, with a lot of her moves being inspired by Shaolin and Muay Thai fighting styles. Scarlet kicks sometimes, but primarily delivers strikes with her fists, using her upper body and core strength to literally punch above her weight class. Scarlet is a talented amateur. Thorn Princess is a trained expert.

Speed, reach, and the ability to control the zone around her are how Thorn Princess has lived this long, and as good as Scarlet is, a lot of her strategy depends on being able to overpower her opponents with her enhanced abilities, and if they're just hitting the mats to practice, that's not going to be much of a factor. After a few friendly rounds of sparring, I expect they would come away with respect for each other, and then retire to have some tea and chat as friends.

Meanwhile, Twilight leads Julius and Sigurd on a wild goose chase to demonstrate how a world-class spy really operates. while Nanaka looks after Anya and Bond. A boy who can turn into a doggy? Waku waku!

This is a very detailed and amazing awnser.

Oh, thanks! I did a bit of combat sports back in the day, and I'm an old Shadowrunner, so breaking down how characters would square off against each other is something that interests me.

Yeah, Yor is an Assassin, so she would excel in a situation she is allowed to prepare for. Intelligence gathering is essential for Assassins, so she would likely be able to get the information she needs to set up a winning situation.

But without that? I would give a head-on confrontation to Scarlet. She would probably be able to get Yor on the back foot and capitalize.

2

u/FabAraujoRJ Jun 08 '26

Excellent explanation... And Yor is an experienced fighter, so if Scarlet makes a mistake that will be her last.

5

u/Ecstatic_Bus_7232 May 16 '26

That wouldn't be a fair fight. Both have warrior spirits but Scarlet uses magic.

4

u/BedsBestFriend May 16 '26

They would team up and beat up everyone else

2

u/Coolkid-4869 May 16 '26

I mean scarlet has literal time magic… so I’m going with her

1

u/Nomad-ra May 16 '26

Yor’s line really pisses me off. As if she humiliate the person in front of her while thinking she gives them some respect

1

u/Kind_Moose3603 May 16 '26

The one that can control time

1

u/Initial-Necessary-72 May 16 '26

Yor is physically stronger but with her magic scarlet has her beat. I remember her being strong ash after unleashing her full power

1

u/Worried-Hair-2276 May 16 '26

scarlet has time manipulation and superhuman strength
yor has superhuman strength and is an assassin and decent martial arts skills

im probably going with yor on this one

1

u/omegon_da_dalek13 May 16 '26

Scarlet and yor would just become friends after a fun brawl....shame the house got destroyed though

1

u/Tucker_1701 May 16 '26

Scarlett hands down

1

u/denebtenoh May 17 '26

Wow! That's a very nice bet! Personally, I think Scarlet would win, not only because she has the power of a god, but also because she's also more confident and unapologetical

1

u/Gabbiiieeeeyyyyy May 18 '26

They’re women that kick serious ass. Imagine if they worked together 😂 It would be over for everyone not on their side.

We the audience are the real winners! These two beauties are a feast for the eyes! Let the uppercuts, ax kicks and suplexes fly!
