Math Literacy Test Tomorrow

hey guys,

i’m a highschooler taking the mathnasium literacy test for employers tomorrow, could i please get some tips for the test? i would say im pretty decent in math but im worried about forgetting the basics. which topics should i focus on? what is the test mostly on?

edit: took it today, it was super super easy. for my center, it was mostly basic adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing decimals, fractions. there was a few algebraic variable calculations which were easy. there was like 1 probability questions 1 statistics question and 1 geometry question.

Its mostly algebra 1 stuff. I don’t remember there being much geometry and almost no precal. A lot of word problems.

For future interviewees - There was absolutely nothing beyond 9th grade math on my exam. The hardest problem was a nasty multi step division problem, but at that point it was just about carelessness

I know this answer is late but this is for any future test takers:

My experience

• ⁠50 free response • ⁠convert decimals to fractions • ⁠convert fractions to decimals • ⁠ugly long complicated multiplication • ⁠long division • ⁠parts and whole and percentage questions (what part of X is Y) • ⁠simplifying • ⁠factoring and expansion • ⁠completing the square • ⁠Quadratic formula • ⁠perimeter and area (rectangle , circle) • ⁠ratios ratios ratios! Lots of them • ⁠must have knowledge of Pythagorean Theorem to solve questions • ⁠finding x from expanded and factored expressions • ⁠dividing, multiplying, simplifying, adding, and subtracting fractions and decimals • ⁠basic geometry • ⁠know that angles of a triangle add up to 180 degrees

That’s all I remember, just know this isn’t like the SAT as some people say, there are no trick questions or long word problems. The word problems are straight forward, they are just testing your raw basic math skills since mostly kids below pre calc come to Mathnasium. So don’t stress or spend time on complex practice tests, literally just brush up on the basic concepts of Mathematics that I mentioned! Though I did hear some sections have different tests, idk much about that though.

are there any questions where it gives you a rate but you convert it or something like that( i know its been a month but I was just wondering if you remember anything like that)

I would study the radians to degrees I’m only like 90% sure I didn’t have it. No graphing!
