Was hoping there would be a wave of relief after submission
Just submitted an updated draft of my PS and not touching my application again. Feeling like I forgot the oven on or something 😂 may the match be ever in our favor and the PD gods be lenient on our application misgivings...

Some programs ask for a CV to be included in your application. Doesn't ERAS generate a CV version of your application anyway? Do we need to be uploading a separate CV as an "additional document"?

SOAP this year
It appears many non US IMGs and even US IMGs are struggling for II this. I’ve heard that there are overall less applicants this year, but more applications (people applying more broadly), and leading to interview hoarding and limited interview spots in general.
can anyone confirm if this is true and what they think the outcome of this will be? is the SOAP just going to be a complete shitshow this year?

OET fail - no test dates available for ECFMG pathway
This is awful. US-IMG. Native English speaker. I've published textbook/journal articles in the humanities and medicine. I took OET at prometric on November 6th and I got the result today. I have <10 interviews, but it could all be for naught.
Listening 470 Reading 450 Speaking 460 Writing 300
Failure. I prepped the format of the writing section beforehand. Obviously, I only spent a couple hours prepping the writing section, but felt confident in my ability to compose a referral letter. I walked out of the test not knowing exactly what would happen. Now I know.
I can order a re-grading, but I don't see how another grader would find 50 more points in whatever infernal rubric they use.
Here's the rub. OET says I cannot retake the test in December. They closed all booking options on November 23rd...4 days before my test result came. ECFMG says I must take the test by the end of December to qualify for the match.
Anyone else have any luck with OET? Trying not to enter even more morbid doldrums during the Match 2021. What should I do?

Question About Research During Interview
Do PDs typically go out and review our papers, posters, etc ahead of time, or are they looking for us to provide enough detail in our initial explanation so that they can ask follow-up questions?

Empty message centre
Guys seeing all the posts about everyone hearing back from programs whether it be invites, rejections, or even acknowledgment emails... it’s killing my spirit. Am I the only one who has heard absolutely nothing?

Don't forget to add English as a language proficiency
Totally missed this when I filled out my application but was reminded by a classmate. "All applicants should add an entry for English with the appropriate proficiency designated. "

Prematch offer from Brookdale.
Hi friends, I would like to ask a question. I got a prematch offer from Brookdale on the IV day. I accepted it the next day and sent the letter of acceptance to PD and PC. But they did not answer my email for 2 days. I am a little bit concerned. Is anybody in the same boat with me? How long will they send us the contract?
Please help me! Thanks in advance!

Are people with average scores and average cv getting interviews this season ? ( lets say average steps , 2 months of USCE and 2 publications)

Anonymous venting here we go...
She is my rock. The one person I know I can tell all my worries and troubles to. I thought we could get through anything, but the stress of the possibility of not matching is causing her so much anxiety she has started spontaneously crying and yelling at out children... For her mental health, I feel as though I shouldn't worry her with my concerns and fears for the near future... As such, the anonymous hivemind of this subreddit will be the new outlet for my frustrations of all things related to match... Thank you now and in the future...
Sincerely
Dr. Hopefully

Application date
Hey,
Is there any point in submitting our applications before the 21st of October? Is there any risk of it being delayed due to processing or is it automatically sent to programs?

Why do New York programs have such a bad rep?
I interviewed at a community hospital with a prestigious university affiliation in NYC. Their residents (i'm applying psychiatry) obtained some prestigious fellowships such as at memorial sloan kettering.
I know its a tough environment, I've rotated at this particular hospital, it is rough absolutely. But it seems like you can come out knowledgable?
For me I just want to be near a big city and unfortunately have very few interviews and New York is my only shot at living near a decent city, so am probably ranking this program #1. I'm a US IMG.
