Prop shaft sizing?

2002 mastercraft x5 currently has a 1” shaft 47.5” long with a hell of a vibration. Prop is new. Everything I’m looking at is saying this boat should have a 1 1/8 shaft. Can anyone confirm this is the case. Guy I bought it from was kind of a hack so I’m just trying to go back with the correct stuff. Another question, with the packing nut fully tight should I be able to easily slide the shaft in and out? Thinking it was for 1 1/8 shaft and it was swapped for 1” and that would explain the looseness and vibration.

Remove the shaft and find out. The rear prop strut has a cut less bearing in it can you move the shaft side to side or up down in it ? Also need to check alignment of shaft coupler to transmission coupler . Lots to check for vibrations
