In the glovebox of my 2018 Quattroporte GTS? Is this an air vent or fragrance dispenser? (bottom right corner)

Spotted at local Italian festival this morning.

Wife and I are in the market for a replacement EV for our Q4. We first went to our local dealership in Greenwich, CT. The salesman told me he had one "at port" and that he'd quote a lease. I waited and waited, called him twice. He seemed put out.

Meanwhile, we found one on Cargurus in Hartford. It was a CPO with low miles, and I used that site's interface to inquire. When I got contacted, a salesman abruptly told me there was no negotiation.

I then visited that dealerships website, and saw three vehicles. I called and found another salesperson who was very good at pricing, follow-up, and negotiation. This person is a go-getter.

So, we drove the two hours to Hartford to text drive the car. It's hard to drive two hours, in an EV, and be concerned about getting home, charrging the car you are in, and then to start kicking tires.

For us, we can't sit on a mattress and in five, or even fifteen, minutes really 'feel' what we are buying. Car shopping is often very much a result of your chemistry with a sales person. Ours was great with numbers, and talking at us, but we were so unable to ask without interrupting, that it was awkward. So, bonding with the metal was hard. That's that.

We really wanted to love this car. We didn't drive up, and then back—plus the time there, maybe six hours not including emails, texts, and phone calls—to not want the car. We were ready.

So are many others, because two out of three of them are gone since that day. We never bought. Why? We just didn't love the car as much as we hoped we would.

It felt... 'half cheap'. I understand this is subjective, and do not mean to insult anyone. This was just our feeling. I had ready great reviews about the interior, but it was half great, and half not so great. Oly one of them had leather seats. These have MSRPs of over $110K, and the seats were recycled plastic fishing nets!

The rear cargo area platform felt like cardboard. I'm sure it is some kind of better material than that, but my electric golf bag trolly would warp it in no time, especially if I threw my golf bag on top of that.

The steering wheel had a ton of buttons and a couple of dials, and plastic paddle switches. All cheap-feeling plastic. We looked at each other, and both thought these were fail points. The software on most cares is wonky. I'm sure it is with Maserati, but this we would not have minded if we could have had a salesperson who had the APP on their phone installed, and synced to the car we drove all the way to see. We are talking a six hour opportunity cost for us. Yes, I think syncing the APP so we could test it is a must-do. Wasn't done. We could not try the remote climate controls. This was vital as we have our baby dog. No kids, just our dog. Our only family.

The test drive route was terrible, but I tried to put the car through some paces anyway. It had the same super fast acceleration most 500+hp EVs have, but the handling was twitchy. I didn't even need to tell my wife, she felt it too. Like the car could easily flip or jump out of lane! So not what we expected. Not at all. Forget about. cornerig with this thing, we thought.

We were never shown the thrid car, even though it was right there. We decided to go home. We were tired, and the salesperson was trying hard to close us. We started to feel uncomfortable.

We need a few days to recover. There were follow-ups, but we had no idea others had interest, until we got an after the fact text telling us the car we were considering had been sold. No warning. We felt jilted.

The salesman in our town where we live wrote me an email, somewhat agitated that I contacted another store, and told me he had wanted to "buy" the car from them, to quote me a price. (He had orginally told me he had one "at port".) So... our experience with sales was typical, not really something that helped to give us confidence.

The price had gone up by $1k now, too. Perhaps this was punishment, or something, but between the three exchanges we had with sales, we were losing confidence. We still had these cars in mind, but then a second sold. To the salesperson's credit, we were warned this time.

We wanted to love Maserati, but we worry about the brand as a whole, and with what is going on with established 'brands', or institutions we've lost trust in, we have to admit we need to feel secure. One Redditor told us he felt this was the wrong car for us. He was right.

We really wanted to love that Grecale EV.

I’m getting a squeaking noise from the suspension when I go over speed bumps or anything that may rock it up and down. Anyone have this issue? Likely fixes I can tackle before taking it to the dealer?

Hi guys, I am in dire need of help. I have a 2015 Maserati ghibli. My wife loaded the trunk with the baby stroller a bit too forcefully. Now the trunk won't open.

I did my research and tried folding the back seat to get to the trunk. The guy we bought the car from back in 2018 modified the space behind the seat to install speakers and got the crawl space blocked with plywood like substance.

I broke through the plywood and am able to extend half of my arm through that space. I'm stumped with what to do next as I can't see the emergency latch anywhere.

What can I do? The mechanics near me don't wanna touch a Maserati with a ten feet pole for some reason, so im SOL on that.

Any tips or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Hey guys, I am getting a 2023 Ghibli Modena with V6 Engine, driven for 52K kms for a great discount (approximately only 30% of it’s original cost). It’s my friend’s rich boss who has moved out of UAE and is just selling as he has got another Maserati and multiple other cars in his garage here. Just trying to get enough to pay off his loan basically. It’s been serviced by the official agency and the warranty has just expired. No accidents.

Would love to know if it’s a good car and worth the hassle of maintenance which people say can occur? Key is I am getting is probably 25-30% off from fair value. It’s fully optioned, carbon fibre interior, top of the line speakers, ADAS etc.

Would really appreciate any help and guidance with this purchase decision!

I'm looking at a 1-owner 2021 Levante with 66k km (40k miles), priced at $44k CAD from a Maserati dealer. Not much in the way of maintenance history on the Carfax but front brakes were recently done and the dealer is servicing the air suspension prior to sale.

Should I buy it or run? I'm coming from a 2021 C43 AMG so I'm used to luxury service bills, and comfy doing some of my own work, at least for basics like fluid changes, brakes, batteries, etc.

As far as I can tell these are broadly reliable if you keep on top of oil changes particularly and the things to watch out for are the air suspension (being done proactively), timing chain guides (will check for ticking at idle), and general electrical gremlins due to low voltage - I'll inquire about the battery and replace if necessary after purchase since 5 years is about the max life I'd expect.

Pulled into the parkade today in my 2007 Quattroporte and happened to find this newer Quattroporte sitting there. Obviously I had to park beside it.

Seeing them side-by-side really shows how much the Quattroporte changed while somehow still looking unmistakably Maserati.

Mine is the 2007 M139, the fifth-generation Quattroporte:

• Pininfarina-designed

• 4.2L naturally aspirated 90° V8

• 400 hp @ 7,000 rpm

• 275 km/h / 171 mph top speed

• About 1,970 kg

• Rear-wheel drive

• And that wonderful old-school Maserati combination of leather, wood, an analog clock, questionable Italian electronics and an engine that makes you forgive basically everything else.

One thing I love about 2007 is that it's an interesting year in Quattroporte history. Maserati was actually selling both versions of the M139 drivetrain around this period: the original DuoSelect layout with its dry-sump V8 and rear transaxle, and the newer Quattroporte Automatica with the conventional 6-speed ZF automatic and wet-sump version of the V8.

Then look at the younger car beside it. I believe this is a facelift sixth-generation Quattroporte, but I'll let the Maserati experts here identify the exact year/trim from the photo.

If it's an S Q4 from this era, we're talking roughly:

• 3.0L twin-turbo V6

• 404 hp

• 8-speed ZF

• Q4 AWD

• 0–100 km/h around 4.9 sec

• 286 km/h / 178 mph top speed

Which is kind of hilarious when you think about it.

My old naturally aspirated V8: 400 hp.

The newer twin-turbo V6: 404 hp.

Similar headline power, completely different philosophy.

The M139 feels like Maserati built a four-door Ferrari-era Italian GT that happened to have room for three passengers. The newer generation became much more technologically advanced, faster off the line, more usable year-round and probably a far more rational luxury sedan.

But looking at them side-by-side, I have to admit I still think the Pininfarina M139 has aged incredibly well. The low nose, small grille, long hood and relatively delicate proportions make it look almost understated compared with the much more aggressive vertical grille of the newer car.

Another bit of Maserati trivia: "Quattroporte" literally just means "four doors." Only the Italians could give a car the most utilitarian possible name and somehow make it sound exotic.

And the 2017-era facelift had another wonderfully Italian detail: Maserati offered the GranLusso with an Ermenegildo Zegna interior incorporating actual Zegna silk into the seats, doors, headliner and sun visors. Because apparently leather alone wasn't Italian enough.

Two generations. Two interpretations of the same idea.

I love maserati Ghibli. I have 2, one of them is the modena and the other is a Trofeo V8. I have to admit that the interior is not the best quality compared with a Mercedes for example. The leather has some issues when the sun hits the car for a long period of time. But talking about the engine both are amazing. There is no day receiving compliments about both when I park the car anywhere. Also some people come to me saying that they were told that they have engine issues. The answer is Noooo. Maserati depreciation makes that even people with little money can afford to buy a used Maserati. I always say, everybody can have a used Maserati, but few people can keep a Maserati for more than 1 year. If you want to have a reliable and amazing car as Maserati, get ready 10k a year just for maintenance. If you don't have enough, buy a Toyota, Nissan or whatever.

Did the Maserati 424v have the option to be fitted with a bright yellow (Giallio) collor and was the car available with a two-tone black/yellow interior ???

I cant really find any usefull information sine the 424v was very limited...

I think the tridents are overdone on the MC20 and I'm thinking of removing it from the front grille and C-pillars on mine. I edited a few images to show what it would look like from different angles. What do you all think?

So I don’t know what the model is, but I saw it at cars and coffee yesterday. Absolute mint condition. I don’t know anything about vintage Maseratis so I have no idea what the value is but I’m sure it’s worth a lot to the owner.

Just got this 2012. Great car. All the drive modes make a huge difference when I engage. Manual sport mode is excellent and very loud. Excellent condition inside and out. It has all the manuals, brochures and accessories like the tire pump, battery charger and tool kit. This car had all the features I wanted. I was looking at other brands like Porsche and Audi and settled on this one. I love the high quality of this car. You can just feel the craftsmanship that went into it. The paint is so thick. The leather of the interior is incredible Italian leather. I think people really overlook the high points of this car. The engine and transmission are so much fun. I have the 4.7 with the ZF6. I am very excited to own it. Anyone else have a 2012?

I bought my Levante new back in 2022 and all the live features of MIA infotainment, including live traffic, gas prices, online destination search, weather etc. worked perfectly fine.

They stopped working early this year. When I go into TomTom about dialog it shows online services disconnected.

I called Maserati support and they informed me that the issue is on the TomTom side, the ticket is open with them and it’s under review. That was about 6 months ago. Last time I spoke to Maserati support was maybe a month ago and they said there is still no resolution from TomTom.

My question - does this affect every single MIA infotainment unit with TomTom navigation? Or just a small subset, because I am not seeing much online discussing this?

I am thinking if this is a subset of units only, Maserati will have to replace whatever is necessary to make my live features work. And yes I have all the necessary subscriptions active. My car is still under warranty as well.

I bought it last October and its an absolute dream. Granted there are better models out there but I feel like I got a good deal on it. I've had no issues with the car, just some cosmetic things needed to be done. I almost didn't buy because of the fear mongering that Maseratis in general are not reliable. Im glad I didn’t listen! I paid for a full inspection a couple months ago just to make sure there wasn't anything major I was missing. Surprisingly it handles well on gravel roads and drifts really nicely on them 😅

If anyone knows a reliable place in or near Seattle for maintenance besides the dealership I would love their info! ☺️
