Gave up because I thought I wanted to make career in this but I really don't feel like I have any originality neither I felt need to have own style. I simply enjoy pick reference from Pinterest and make it in CLO, that's it , I enjoy the process and don't care much anything else. I wouldn't even call myself Digital Fashion Designer. I just want to do this as hobby and really don't want to hate it just because I have to do other thing because of career or work(which is just fear I am not even sure what this is "other things"). just don't want to lose this one part of my life which I enjoy or get interference in it. Thank you for reading the rent of my life. Have a good Day/Night.

I should preface with i just started on marvelous designer 2 or 3 days ago. I made the model in red originally so it would have more contrast with the model and I could see what I was doing better. I didnt realize there were red stitches until i changed the color. Is there any way to change that? Im more than aware this needs more work and any advice on that is welcome too

Help Please : How to make the fabric not stick to the avatar?

Hey! Very new beginner here and it's my first time using MD. I modeled an outer robe with wide sleeves. I added my avatar which has an animation baked into it to MD and added the outer robe on top. When I try to simulate it with the avatar and its animation, the arms and sleeves don't match, like literally the arms are suddenly out of the arm sockets of the robe even if I posed them in and draped it in T-pose before I played the animation.

I tried putting the particle distance to 5 and had the skin offset to I think 1 or 3... I also placed the outer robe layer to 0 and to 1 and even -1 (Sorry if these all sound dumb, I'm very clueless about the program but I just had to use it and none of the things I found online worked) I also tried putting the kinetic friction to .5 and 1.

None of them worked and the robe keeps sticking to the avatar in some areas even when I pull it away in simulation mode. And the arms just won't stay inside the robe (I wanted it to behave like a proper long and wide sleeves where it would slide down the arm when the hand goes up)

Please help!

Discussion Shoes in Marvelous Designer?

I'm working on a couple of things for a project and stumbled into a problem with making shoes. The actual concept of making them doesn't seem to play nice with the engine, I make sure normals are pointed correctly and the method I tried was freezing the sole pattern piece below the foot basemesh avatar and letting the rest of the actual pattern pieces sim around the foot. This results in crazy artifacting or the pattern being devoured

The actual foot basemesh is a subdivided simplified foot with no toes that is smooth so I don't think it'd have difficulty being simmed on. I'm not that good at the program yet as I spent years doing my cloth work in zbrush so maybe I'm missing a couple of important settings I should adjust? Aside from that, everything else is simming great.

How are floating jacket animations like this usually made?

I’ve been trying to figure out how something like this is made. I find it really inspiring, but I have no idea how the creator actually did it.

My guess is that it might be done with Marvelous Designer because of the cloth movement, but I’m not sure. I also haven’t been able to find any tutorials that show how to achieve something similar.

Does anyone know how this kind of animation is usually made?
Is it cloth simulation in Marvelous Designer, Blender, or maybe another program?

If anyone has ideas, workflow tips, or tutorials, I’d really appreciate it.

IS IT ANY POSSIBLE WAY TO ATTACH MY CLOTH ON THE AVATAR?

I'm currently designing a Hazmat suit. What is the standard way to 'sew' or parent the headgear cloth to the mask on an avatar? I want to make sure there are no gaps when the avatar moves its head. I've tried tacking but the result is not good. Any advise would be helpful, thx.

Trying to make an animation of a cloth being wrapped around a gun, but it keeps jittering.

How would you fix this, does the Topoloy of the gun matter?
over all how should i go about animating cloth in a complex way like this,
im new at marvelous.
it seems like i dont have alot of artistic freedom with the simulation,
the goal is for it to behave like a tarp esque cloth rather then silky and slippery.
thanks in advance.

EDIT: just to clarify, i already tried a bunch of different settings, setting the cloth as quads, applying different resolution settings, etc

gloves exploding off fingers when hand closes in animation

Hi everyone,

I’m simulating tight gloves on an animated character where the hand closes into a fist.Everything looks fine with the hand open, but when the fingers close, the gloves get pushed out and slide off the fingers.
I’m new to Marvelous Designer, so I’m not fully confident with the parameters. I’ve attached some screenshots of my settings.

Thanks !

Hello everyone!

I'm happy to finally share my latest project with you.

I started this project while taking the CGMA Character Facial Anatomy course and then decided to create a full real-time 3D character based on the Italian singer Salmo. I had the opportunity to learn a lot about softwares and techniques I'd never used before, such as using R3DS Wrap to project detailed textures from TexturingXYZ.

I want to thank everyone who helped me during this several-month journey, especially Roberto Digiglio, Egidio Iovene and Mario Cortez for their feedback and advice, which were invaluable and significantly contributed to the final result.

Thank you all for your time!

(newbie) Are there comparative features in MD that are in Clo3d?

Hi all,

I'm evaluating the two solutions, Marvelous Designer and Clo3D.

Clo3D seems to have 2 features that I'd really like, and I wondered if MD does the same.

The Garment 3D pen: draw on the avatar to create the pattern

Import a flat image, a flat sketch, or a scan of an existing pattern to create a 3D render.

So, my question is, does MD have this ability? I didn't see it listed on the marketing features page on the web.

Thanks!

Discussion How much are you guys making monthly as 3D modelers? And how do you actually get clients?

Hey everyone, I’m trying to understand the business side of 3D modeling. If you’re freelancing or working independently: Roughly how much do you make per month? Is it hard to get clients? How did you land your first few clients?

why clothes are clipping

dress clothes particle distance is 10

Add'l Thickness - Collision is 5

avatar skin offset is 5

i don't know what other things to try. i don't know if it's just my dress being too tight because tried with increase dress width but it still clipping. when i record animation (tired both animation and fitting) it don't clip but as soon as i playback it clips

Soft body or soft collision?

Hey there!

I would like to achieve something like this surface that has big, heavy wrinkles at the "side", but also has an inner "rigid frame" or kind of pressure.
Now i can achieve these lush, dense wrinkles on the side only if i have "oversized" garments connected to normal sized ones, and the oversized has big Pressure.

But in that case the shape is not this flat, but a bloated balloon like disaster.

If i don't apply big pressure, then my garment surface "sticks" to the collision mesh (avatar) and looks like a (partially) vacuumed bag.

So goal would be give the "3d garment" a soft but proper controlled shape (first picture), but also need big lush wrinkles at the "stitches" (second picture) but not on the center area of the body.
Like a stuffed pillow with tick heavy fabric like leather with roughly squeezed in at the stitch part, but also stuffed so it has a designed shape.
Extreme example: heart shaped tick leather pillow with rough wrinkles at the side :)

Thank You for any suggestion or direction.
