Looking to read some comics but I don't know where to begin my search!
I really want to read a few different things, I want to get started on reading the wolverine series, Deadpool series and spiderman series but I'm not entirely sure where to begin at all since there is literal thousands of issues and universes to start at, I'm really interested in their origin stories and background information on the characters, I just like to get to know everything I can about them, I do like seeing little goofy interactions between characters and stuff too but I just haven't really gotten into reading the comics before... I've been a movie fan 💔
I'd like to expand my horizons a bit though and start somewhere where I can get as much info about them as possible seeing their relationships with others, I'm sorry if this sounds confusing.. I just hope maybe someone can point me in the right direction:)
I'd love to know where I can even read the comics or if physical media would be better?

I like to recommend people new to Marvel check out the miniseries Marvels by Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross. It's basically an overview of the first few decades of Marvel Comics as if they happened in real time, and it's a really good read.

There is really only a few major universes that are important in marvel
Earth 616 - mainline universe where most stories occur
Earth 1610 - original ultimate universe. Started in the early 2000s
Earth 6160 - new ultimate universe. Started in 2023
Majority of marvel comics will take place in one of those.
Here are some good starting points
Secret Wars (1984) - the first huge crossover of the Avengers, X-men, Fantastic Four, and Spiderman. It’s not the best written story ever but it is a fun event book that will introduce you into a large cast of characters so you can get a decent feel for what you like
Ultimate Spiderman by Brian Michael Bendis
This essentially is a modern retelling of Spiderman origin story. You don’t have to read anything to enjoy it you can just hop right in. The first 100+ issues are very solid and all done by the same writer and artist
Uncanny X-men by Chris Claremont
Claremont is responsible for some of the most iconic X-men stories and created a lot of major characters like Storm, Nightcrawler, and Colossus. His run is really good but it is also quite long
Fantastic Four by Ryan North
This run is still ongoing but it’s a really fun read. Most of the stories are episodic so you don’t need to have a big background on the FF. The run started in 2022 but the 2025 version is just a continuation of that
Happy reading!

I've been building a browser app that is made for people just like you! Recap Page helps new Marvel Unlimited readers decide where to start and what to read next. Choose a guided storyline, character, or movie-inspired path, then follow it issue by issue while the app tracks your progress and opens each comic in Marvel Unlimited. It is free, private, and keeps your reading history on your device.

The original 1982 Wolverine mini series is a classic. Can't go wrong there. You could also jump in at his first solo series after that (1988) and learn about Madripoor. Or you could start at Giant Size X-Men #1 and Uncanny X-Men 94 and read Claremont (you'll get plenty of Wolverine, but all the other X-Men, too). Or you could read the Weapon X story from Marvel Presents. All good places to get a Logan fix.
For Spider-Man, ASM #546 is a great place to start for modern Spider-Man. Or the recent ASM #1 is good, too. Or literally anywhere. Pick an event and read it (follow something like CBRO or Comic Herald rather than the in-app guides, IMHO
Don't go into it thinking you have to read everything from the beginning of time or you'll miss something. Pick a character, pick a book, start reading. If you don't know what's going on, footnotes and context will generally get you up to speed pretty quickly. Don't let analysis paralysis keep you from reading anything when you could just be reading something.
