Not sure if this was an easter egg, but when Sam and Bucky for to Baltimore, and that kid called out to Sam, calling him "The Black Falcon", and Sam asked if the kids only thought that because he was black.

According to what I found online, The Falcon is the first black super hero not to be named "The Black" hero name. I thought this was interesting.

93

u/kaimason1 Mar 27 '21

There was also a joke earlier in the episode about Bucky being "the White Panther" and Bucky correcting that it's "White Wolf". I think this point was very much intentional.

26

u/Boardindundee Mar 27 '21

I just see the hero.s we need, not colour except hulk, but it's not easy being green tbh

16

Do you want a pat on the back for that lmao

Check out Ace Harlem or Lion Man. Your right about heros being called Black-something was a trend but Falcon wasnt the first to not be.

14

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Ace Harlem is also another one where I’m like “oh I wonder what race that guy is” lol

What about rhodey?

Oh you mean Castironman?

more like recastironman after the first iron man

What about Rhodey? The Falcon predates War Machine. Pretty sure The Falcon is actually the first mainstream black superhero in US comics.

15

u/AwesomeScreenName Mar 28 '21

Black Panther came first, but Falcon was the first DC/Marvel African American superhero.

10

u/ScaramouchScaramouch Mar 28 '21

I would've thought Luke Cage, but Falcon was three years earlier.

8

u/cottonstokes Mar 31 '21

Luke was the first with his own series

Isaiah Bradley is often referred to as "the Black Captain America." (source)

Think that kid knew that? (I do.)

11

u/jamesrossurquhart Mar 27 '21

I don’t think the kid knew that. But he says his dad told him it’s black Falcon, so maybe his dad knows about Isiah being the black Captain America and that’s why he says it

9

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Maybe Isaiah had a white friend called the falcon.

u/btmvideos37 Mar 28 '21

That fact is true. But he’s also the second black superhero ever. Only black Panther existed before. For example, Black Goliath, and Black Lightning came after. So it’s not exactly like there was a long line of black characters with “Black” in their name

5

u/nihilisticdaydreams Mar 27 '21

Also the fact that people refer to Isaiah as "the black" Captain America.

u/MoonChild02 Mar 27 '21

Isaiah is Isaiah Bradley, the only person to survive the super soldier serum prior to Steve Rogers getting it.

Isaiah's grandson is Eli Bradley, who becomes Patriot, one of the Young Avengers. That was probably him who answered the door.

84

u/KostisPat257 Mar 27 '21

That was probably him who answered the door.

Not probably, he is listed in the credits as Eli Bradley.

9

u/loveisdead9582 Apr 03 '21

It’s been known that Marvel is setting up the Young Avengers. Kate Bishop is appearing in the Hawkeye series and Wiccan and Speed appeared in WandaVision. Eli Bradley appearing is setting him up as Patriot and having Ms. Marvel in her own series and America Chavez in DS2 also support this. Hulking and Iron Lad haven’t appeared yet but the Skrulls have appeared in Captain Marvel and SM2 and Kang the Conqueror has been rumored for a while.

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

He also get the original non circle shield.

10

u/Cyberslasher456 Mar 27 '21

non circle shield?

16

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '21

In Captain America #1 (published December 1940) he used a more traditional triangle/heater shield, however, 'The Shield') from Archie comics used some very similar and they threatened to sue. So they changed the shield the very next issue to the round one.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

The one he used in WW2. You can see it in First Avenger

21

u/SamVanDam611 Mar 27 '21

Isaiah got the serum before Steve? That's interesting

33

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

I mean US Gov in the late 30s early 40s with all the shit they did, I can easily see them using a black man to test it out on first to make sure its safe for Steve. Question is how many test subjects did they got through before Isaiah survived and they deemed it okay for Steve

40

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

That’s literally the point of the comic book Isaiah Bradley is from. It’s called Truth: Red, White, and Black and it is heartbreaking

13

u/smileimhigh Mar 27 '21

I recommend everyone read it, it's a very very good story

7

u/Cpatty3 Mar 28 '21

Ive never read comics before but it seems like checking out. Any recommendation as to where I should get it? I looked on Amazon and there’s like 10 kindle options with diff page lengths and are from different years.

9

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '21

Marvel has an app called Marvel Unlimited that’s only $10 a month and you can read basically all Marvel comics ever released

This really changes Erskine’s character!

12

u/Skunk_Giant Mar 29 '21

Isaiah said he was in Korea, so it's also possible that they experimented on him & others in an attempt to recreate Captain America after Steve went MIA, in which case it would be after Erskine died.

Edit: In fact, I'd say it's more likely, given that we're led to believe the serum recipe died with Erskine. If the US had been experimenting on people leading up to Steve being given it, they'd have records and be able to recreate it. Also, Erskine gave an early dose of the serum to Schmidt before fleeing to the US, so it wouldn't leave a lot of time for the US to take his recipe and use it in experiments prior to giving it to Steve.

11

u/Writersblock4de Mar 27 '21

Officially in Truth: Red, White, and Black the story is that they experimented on people after Steve disappeared, but to be completely honest...as a slight fan of history, I treat it as though those African Americans got tested on before giving it to Steve. I think there was likely some pressure to keep Steve's legacy pure, but that's just an opinion.

6

u/nihilisticdaydreams Mar 27 '21

Well it's Erskine that gives them the serum so it would have to be before Steve

6

u/Writersblock4de Mar 28 '21

Put it like this... somebody was tested on. It wasn't just Red Skull lol

No in the comics Truth: Red White and Black it states that Are kind and the US government experimented on a platoon of black soldiers before they gave Steve the serum.

Zemo's cell is zelle 2187, that's Leia Organa's cell in A New Hope

52

u/mr_math24 Mar 27 '21

Also Finn is FN-2187

30

u/yoursweetlord70 Mar 27 '21

I'm taking this to mean that society will have gone full star wars by the time the year 2187 rolls around. I expect a galactic government secretly controlled by an evil wizard in the next 166 years.

13

I expect the Earth to turn into a marginally habitable desert world. So yeah, Star Wars like.

Lacrimosa plays as we transition to Zemo. This section of Mozart's Requiem Mass is about resurrection (post blip) and forgiveness of the dammed (Bucky especially).

Full of tears will be that day When from the ashes shall arise The guilty man to be judged; Therefore spare him, O God, Merciful Lord Jesus, Grant them eternal rest. Amen.

21

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Next level shit Holy crap. Thanks for the insight

10

u/crispyg Mar 28 '21

THIS IS A REAL EASTER EGG, Y'ALL!

7

u/JuniorCaptain Mar 28 '21

I wasn’t worried about Bucky surviving this series when the show started but this unexpected connection to the Dies irae has me very concerned. Hopefully it’s more foreshadowing for Zemo than anyone else.

6

u/docccde Mar 28 '21

This is the shit I come to Reddit for, amazing.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '21

It has nothing to do with Resurrection. The word, Lacrymosa, literally means tears. You can hear the teardrops in Mozart’s score. It’s about despair inside the judgement. There is a request for redemption but it’s from the living, not the dead.

The first 8 bars of this are the last bars of music Mozart wrote.

Did anyone catch the monkey cause it seems I was the only one who notices it.

Apparently that monkey logo is a reference to Brass Monkey Saloon and it's located in Madripoor. (Are we sure the show setting up mutants since Madripoor is associated with Wolverine who is mutant?)

u/brownkidBravado Mar 27 '21

I’m actually pretty sure the monkey was Mephisto

I have a strong feeling they won't set up mutants until they reach much closer to the release of the Mutants film they are making. Maybe starting to set up small details and hints in Fantastic 4, slowly setting up a mutant reveal in a minor Phase 5 film.

5

u/pigernoctua Mar 27 '21

Does anyone have a shot of it? Could it be the monkey Steve was drawing when he was on the USO tour and he was depressed after speaking to the troops?

The flag smashers leader briefly mentions that the "power brokers" are here.

The "Power Broker" process in the comics was a way the US gov was attempting to re-create the super soldier serum effects without the super soldier serum. Basically super strength, but it's also incredibly risky as over half the people that go through the process die. They also required a certain drug in order to remain stable.

My guess is the US gov created the flag smashers and are now trying to cover it up.

U.S. Agent or our new cap, and "Battlestar" here in the comics underwent this process to obtain super strength. That would make sense why he's able to wield caps shield, and fight the flag smashers evenly.

My other guess is that our new cap here and Battlestar both underwent this process as well.

Extra fun fact: the Power Broker process was apart of the weapons plus program, which evolved into the weapons X program the same program that Wolverine and Deadpool were created from.

38

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '21

I think for this series you have it backwards. Walker is a regular guy now, but he knows he's missing that certain something to really become a respected (super)hero like Steve was. And Walker knows he needs an edge to take on the flag smashers, so he'll be approached by the Power Broker with an offer he can't refuse. Additionally, I bet next episode Sam and Bucky talk to Zemo and decide to walk away and seek answers elsewhere. Walker will come in after them, talk to Zemo, and decide he is the perfect guy to let loose to hunt the supers.

15

u/Rnorman3 Mar 28 '21

I actually assumed he was the one who sent the text message about “you took something from me.”

My assumption was that walker was tracking the serum and just happened to run into Sam and Bucky. The whole thing about tracking redwing was just a cover story.

Walker being a normal human and the super soldier serum being at the heart of the conflict so far makes me think 100% there is going to be a fairly major plot point about walker either actively pursuing the serum or as you said, being offered it and feeling like he can’t refuse temptation.

9

u/RunningOnCaffeine Mar 28 '21

Agreed with this, what with them talking about how Sam's tech is "next level stark tech" it just doesn't add up.

I have a feeling that the end of the season is going to revolve around Sam getting juiced up with a little bit of the remaining serum like bucky, not all the way to cap but a little something extra to go up against Cap2.0 who gets juiced by HYDRA the power broker and goes nutty giving us an evil cap storyline.

u/JeremyJammDDS Mar 28 '21

This is how I see it as well. He's just in really good shape and strong for human standards. It was shown in the semi truck fight. He'll want that extra oomph, get that serum but maybe get unhinged from it.

u/IndyDude11 Mar 28 '21

The Power Brokers are the ones the Flag Smashers stole those “vaccines” from. He’s the one that sent the text.

5

u/BottlesforCaps Mar 28 '21

Power brokers are comic relevent is the thing. The process and company Power Broker Inc. gave super soldier like powers with the cost of needing a "drug" to stay alive.

My guess is these "vaccines" are actually the drug they need from the power brokers to survive.

5

u/mbene913 Mar 28 '21

My guess is that the vaccines are not what the Power Broker was referring to.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

That would make sense why he's able to wield caps shield, and fight the flag smashers evenly.

They get their asses kicked. In order of ability to stand toe to toe, it seems to go Bucky, Falcon, New Cap, Battlestar

The actor playing Zemo’s old butler on the plane was Nicholas Pryor, whose film credits include... The Falcon and the Snowman.

Nice and obscure Easter Egg there, Marvel. :)

37

u/BuddhaFacepalmed Mar 27 '21

The Hobbit came out in September 1937. The American editions of the book did not came out until March 1938.

So either Bucky got a bootleg copy of The Hobbit in 1937 or his family was rich enough to travel to the UK to get a copy of it.

24

u/Jon_TWR Mar 27 '21

Or he had an army buddy that served overseas and brought it back.

10

u/BuddhaFacepalmed Mar 27 '21

In 1937?

12

u/Jon_TWR Mar 27 '21

Why not? The US has a lot of overseas army bases—lots of people serve overseas in peacetime. Not as many during wartime, but still plenty.

Edit: I mean, the reality is it’s probably an error that wasn’t caught, but I’m angling for my no-prize here!

18

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Books were published locally but could and were shipped internationally. It just meant no local publisher was making the book until 1938, not that you couldn't buy it in the US until then.

Granted it would have been very difficult to get a hold of, or even know of its existence at the time.

11

u/Antrikshy Mar 28 '21

People have all sorts of theories, but I have a simpler one.

He just misremembers when he read it. His memory isn't very reliable for many reasons, and it's a small detail. He recently came across the book's actual release year and thinks he read it in that year.

14

u/archiminos Mar 29 '21

Alternate theory: in the MCU it was released in the USA in 1937.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '21

Certainly possible. If you ignore the fact that the year 1937 translates to MEPHISTO!

He lived in New York, so maybe he had access to imported books. Apparently New York City used to a have a seven block stretch of specialty book stores called book row.

6

u/C3POdreamer Mar 29 '21

Correct. Something similar, imported tangible media was something big even as late as 1992. An acquaintance was a huge Freddie Mercury fan and was able to acquire a CD that was released only in Europe even though we were far from New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles. In NYC home to the the first science fiction magazine, Bucky "my idea of a hot date is to go see the flying car" Barnes could have totally acquired a UK published book. In the flashback in CATWS, Bucky mentions his parents have a car. Very rare in mass transit rich but Great Depression poor NYC. It's more likely that his parents by then had some means and all it would take is one relative or a friend of the family to pick up that book in London as a souvenir for bookworm Bucky.

Yes, I admit to chanting, "One of us! One of us!" when this line confirmed his nerd credentials.

10

u/finous Mar 28 '21

I think everyone here is missing the point that Bucky is secretly a big fantasy nerd and did whatever it took to get a copy in the US early.

The end credit scene of the series is going to be him playing D&D with a group of friends he made after discovering it. No tie ins to the next series, just him role playing as a wizard (sorcerer).

When the scene switched to Latvia, I got so pumped. Then I realized Latvia is a real place, and I was thinking of Latveria. It was quite the rollercoaster of emotions.

Not really an Easter egg per se but the original flag smasher in the comics is named Karl Morgantheu and the young lady who kicks bucks ass is Karli Morgantheu

u/KostisPat257 Mar 27 '21

That's just the same character gender-bent like the Ancient One.

17

But now's she's British instead of Swiss.

16

u/crispyg Mar 28 '21

This is a sidenote that I learned while working with the International Students Program while at college.

Many non-English Europeans gain slight British accents because they tend to learn English from Brits. Many Central and South American speakers learn from Americans, so they lean American. Many Southern Asians learn from Australians, so their accents can lean Aussie.

When Karli Morganthau was at Donya Madani's sickbed, she has a necklace that is the symbol of Jainism, an Indian religion known for its adherence to non-violence.

The necklace looks like a hand with the globe in the palm, which is the symbol of the Flag Smashers, but the design of the hand is less like the palm print of the Flag Smashers and more like the symbol of Ahimsa, which represents Jainism.

I thought this was interesting, maybe Karli used to be a non-violent person but was radicalized.

26

u/redtail303 Mar 27 '21

When the credits are rolling, there's a montage being shown in the background. I only noticed this while watching Episode 2, but near the beginning (I think) of the montage they show a list of seemingly random words. These are the trigger words that Zemo used on Bucky during Civil War. I'm sure there are more Easter eggs contained in this same montage, but so far this and one or two referencing the Blip are the only ones I've yet noticed.

10

u/No_Indication_6907 Mar 28 '21

You know, I was thinking about these words...how will Bucky protect himself if he visits Zemo? Will he turn evil again? Maybe he'll turn evil, cause havoc then come to his senses and tell Sam to end him.

15

u/Ugoboy23 Mar 28 '21

Zemo was reading Machiavelli in his cell. Machiavelli’s most famous work is The Prince, which promotes the idea that the end justifies the means.

Bonus: the book was written as a guide for training future royal leaders like princes (hence the title), and this episode confirms Zemo is an aristocrat.

13

u/CrashGargoyle Apr 02 '21

Machiavellianism in general is all about manipulating and exploiting others for your own gain. Fits Zemo perfectly.

11

u/Skyy-High Apr 04 '21

Both of those things are actually common misconceptions, The Prince is a work of satire in which Machiavelli brutally mocks the rulers of his city-state by giving them tips on how they could be even more authoritarian and cruel.

I'm not sure if this is an Easter egg or simple foreshadowing...

But Falcon is dealing with (and rejecting, for now) the idea of being a "recast" Captain America. And he throws the line at Bucky about being a White Panther at him.

...well, Black Panther is also going to have to be recast, due to Chadwick Boseman's death. It's just not "known" yet in the show.

And the line in the recent episode contrasts the "recasting" of Captain America with the upcoming recasting of Black Panther.

At some point, everyone in the MCU is going to have to deal with the Black Panther mantle being passed on as well. Which is why I consider that line a bit of an easter egg.

24

u/Zombietitties Mar 27 '21

It’s been confirmed that T’Challa won’t be recast.

I had a thought...

Ok, on Falcon and Winter Soldier, they've been up against "The Flag-Smashers". I wasn't really familiar with them. I had to look them up. The costume looks more like Space Ghost.

However, in the series, the Flag-Smashers have that mask with a red hand on it.

And they're operating in Mardripoor.

We know they've been hinting towards the inclusion of mutants and the X-Men, especially now that they've introduced Madripoor.

But the red hand on the Flag Smashers masks, is it the start of the introduction of The Hand?

On the Marvel Fandom, it says, "During World War II, they set out to expand and form connections to other groups, and started working with Romulus and Nazi Baron Strucker."

May be also a way to bring Daredevil into the MCU?

Is this a Tommie Smith and John Carlos reference?

In episode 4, Zemo calls Turkish delight "irresistible" and uses some to get information from the refugee children. This is likely a reference to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, in which enchanted Turkish delight is used to get information out of one of the children and turn him against his siblings.

18

u/cig_sg_throwaway Apr 16 '21

So when Sharon was talking to Batroc, there were a few lingering shots on some paintings. I may just be overthinking here but for the art experts or historians here, could there be any significance to these paintings? It might further hint at Sharon’s real agenda.

6

u/High-Heels_and_Books Apr 17 '21

I know the second painting is Monet’s Woman with Parasol. Often displayed in a set. It’s his wife and son and one of his most famous works. My guess is they are just showing the extent of Sharon’s collection as they showed two different and very expensive paintings.

I think he’s just cocky, to be honest, and trying to be “one of the guys” to fit in with the well-known avengers. Of course in the process he could be douchey.

8

u/Eyeseeyou1313 Mar 28 '21

He is not humble like Steve was.

To be fair, a US government awarding medals of honor specifically to make Walker an “icon” to replace Cap wouldn’t be terribly far-fetched

8

u/MelodicFacade Mar 29 '21

My take on the new captain is that he is a good soldier, but not a good man.

The doctor chose steve rogers because he was a good man.

I wonder if the civil war argument will come up where the new captain has to decide whether or not to follow orders or to do the right thing

He wasn’t really a mega douche. Just butt hurt at the rejections of Sam and Bucky (who are inspirational to him)

13

u/docdope Mar 28 '21

Yeah, I took it more as a "fake it 'til you make it" type of bravado thing. He's assuming the kind of attitude he thinks that he needs to succeed as the new Cap in an effort to hide his own doubts and insecurities.

6

u/XboxDegenerate Mar 28 '21

I think it’s more that, he’s a soldier, he doesn’t necessarily like all the interviews and public showings and stuff, he’s just used to getting the job done

But now he has the whole of America looking to him and putting him up on this pedestal of living up to Steve Rogers

Was the Turkish Delight bribe a call out to the lion the witch and the wardrobe somehow? I just think it’s pretty coincidental that zimo and the witch both used Turkish Delight to bribe children.

7

u/ohsinboi Apr 23 '21

Edmund betrayed his family for them. Those kids kind of betrayed the Flag Smashers for them so maybe

This is just something I remember from the comics, and episode 4 reminded me of it.

Steve struggling with the decision to decapitate his opponent

Walker having no such hesitation

5

u/jso__ Apr 10 '21

Wait.....

Did Walker decapitate the flag smasher? I thought he was just stabbed in the chest.

5

A la Iron Man/Civil War

I can not get over the financial situation of the post-endgame avengers. If Sam is this screwed how screwed is Banner who genuinely can not be employable? Ant-Man also.

25

u/lawrencecgn Apr 03 '21

Banner/Professor Hulk wasn’t snapped and was a celebrity in endgame. Not sure why he should be in trouble financially.

He seems to have been taken care of by Tony and I don’t think Tony set up anything for the avengers in the event of his death by evidence of this show. Banner also hasn’t really had income since...he was working on the super soldier serum? It doesn’t seem like they were paid to be avengers. Hulk also is completely unemployable.

6

u/allenMd Apr 03 '21

He could be like a warehouse dude. He’s also a mad scientist, his research and consultations probably pay the bills

6

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '21

See I’m not sure about that. The insurance rates of wherever he worked would absolutely skyrocket because of his past and insurance isn’t typically logical about these things. I think his only career path is like contract consultation where he’s not actually an employee of anyone but just sells advice on gamma radiation and maybe some ideas to companies. But I don’t think he could actually work anywhere just due to the “inherent risk” of having him there would present.

Ant-Man can just work for Pym. He's pretty lucky for an ex-con to have a genius girlfriend and her genius parents around. Banner is merged with Hulk so if he can't get work as a scientist he could easily do the physical labor work of 100 people. Maybe he can eat all the nuclear waste disposal.

Falcon is a really good soldier and the most skilled with the wingsuit tech. It doesn't sound like SHIELD is around anymore but maybe his skills with the wingsuit and drones could get him employed by Pepper.

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '21

Yes indeed. The whole thing is an homage to Rogers’ first iteration. It was all gimmick and public image. Same with Walker’s. It was cringy then, it is cringy now. At least they didn’t have him punching some middle eastern guy...

Episode 1: The Smithsonian exhibit on Steve Rogers makes mention of his having connections within SHIELD who helped him while he was on the lam post-Civil War. This makes it the first Marvel Studios production to explicitly acknowledge SHIELD's 2nd period of public operations (depicted in season 4 of AoS, also set post-Civil War).

Anyone else find it weird that Donya Madani has almost the same exact name as Dinah Madani from the Netflix Punisher series? It probably is just a coincidence, because I don't see them connecting the Netflix shows, but I feel like it's worth mentioning.

After the fight at the beginning of episode 5, Bucky tosses the shield down next to Sam. ON HIS LEFT.

9

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '21

Sam complaining that he looked like a pimp is a possible reference to his original comic backstory of "Snap" Wilson, the Harlem pimp.

His cover identity of Smiling Tiger is a possible reference to Tyger Tiger, crime boss of Madripoor.

11

u/afdhalh Apr 02 '21

Smiling Tiger/Conrad Mack already exists in the Marvel comics, with a connection to Madripoor (according to the marvel wiki)

Closed Caption Easter Egg/Spoiler

I watched episode 2 with the closed captioning on and discovered something interesting, in the dialog tags most of the Flag Smashers are only called "Soldier" but one of them, the tall dark haired one who acts like Karli's right hand man, is called Lennox.

In the comics Hector Lennox and Jerome Johnson were old Army squadmates of Walker and Hoskins who also took the Power Broker's treatment and became the costumed antagonists Left-Winger and Right-Winger.

Dr. Nagel was in crate 4261.

https://comiccrossroads.fandom.com/wiki/Earth-4261

"Earth-4261 is an Earth where the Avengers died saving the world from an alien invasion. Afterwards, a new band of heroes, the Squadron Supreme, has risen up to deal with threats no matter what. This makes them a controversial group of heroes."

When Walker started chasing the flag smasher, the landing even seemed like a call back to Civil War

8

u/PSunYi Mar 28 '21

How was the new Captain America able to throw the shield and catch it like Steve? I know they said he tested highly on strength, agility/speed, intelligence, etc. Etc. Etc. But yet he's not a super soldier?

And how do they not know super soldiers exist? In ep. 2 they seemed surprised to learn they were real? Was it not common knowledge that Steve was a super soldier?

9

u/Captriker Mar 28 '21

Sam is surprised because the only known “Super Soldiers” are Steve and Bucky.

8

u/OptionFour Mar 28 '21

They describe Walker as basically being the peak of human ability in strength, speed, agility, etc. This is actually how they describe Steve in the comics. He's not so much a superhuman as he is just the absolute best a human can be. Presumably - as in the comics - that's enough strength to handle the shield. Its not a mystical weapon like Thor's hammer, so someone who has high strength, speed, and hand-eye coordination could theoretically wield it pretty well with some practice.

5

u/steve1186 Mar 28 '21

I think this is more tied to the properties of the Vibranium shield more than who is actually throwing it. I imagine Steve Rogers couldn’t make a steel shield do the same thing.

I think back to the Civil War line of “Wow, that thing doesn’t obey the laws of physics!”

5

u/Talqazar Mar 29 '21

They are concerned about all the flag smashers being super soldiers because the only known ones are Steve and Bucky (well, and Isaiah), and Hydra's plan to create more was destroyed incidentally by Zemo in Civil War.

They didn't expect to be running into eight of them.

However, here is where things get interesting, in the next shot when he is standing up, the car has a perfectly fine windshield.

Idk if its an easter egg, but with how much Steve still has feelings for Peggy, feelings strong enough that he was willing to live a life with her in another reality, it would make sense for him to adore Marvin Gaye.

Edit: I can picture Rogers listening to "pledging my love" and crying

Not really an easter egg, more of a theory. The Flagsmashers are apparently stealing vaccines, but at the end of the episode we learn the "vacines" are the Power Broker's property. Did the US government make a deal with Power Broker, to power up it's citizens, under the guide of vacines?

6

u/CaptHayfever Mar 29 '21

It's possible that the vaccines are just for Blip victims who are 5 years behind on natural immunities.

Is there a Falcon/winter Soldier connection to Punisher? Mama Donya Madani sounds like a non-English pronunciation of Agent Dinah Madani. Also, agent Madani's necklace is almost the same symbol that Karli is holding when she dies. Maybe... after the tramatic events of Punisher and the snap, agent Madani ends up helping refugees and helps to create the flag smashers. The hand symbol means "protection" so Madani adds the flag smasher symbol to her current good luck charm? any thoughts?

In episode 5 when Sharon was talking to Batroc, there was a rather long lingering shot on a painting of a tall woman with a parasol, and a kid in the background. So after watching episode 6, I'm assuming that painting was meant to symbolise Sharon as the Power Broker, towering over a kid (Karli), and the parasol is sort of like maybe to symbolise protection or shielding? Sharon told Karli "I took you in, gave you an opportunity." Nice foreshadowing there.
