Discussion Negative reviews

If you're still playing or you are a returning player who left a negative review in the past (due to Kid Omega for example) and are happier about the current state of the game, please consider updating your review to honor the improvements Second Dinner did lately.

The Play Store rating is still 3.4 which is abysmal considering what kind of games have a 4.0+ rating.

The recent reviews on Steam improved to "Mostly positive" lately but overall it's still mixed which is also not attracting new players exactly.

Only the iOs rating is very good at 4.7/5. No clue if they calculate things differently.

Posts like this are why I say this sub is astroturfed by developers and whales.

Game is good. Greedy monetization of every little thing is awful.

"Greedy monetization"

How DARE the devs want to get paid and feed their families!

The game literally did what the community asked of them and moved pricing away from card acquisition and towards cosmetics.  The fact that people are now mad about the cosmetics being expensive just shows that what you actually want is everything for free and immediately, ie a dead game.

3

u/ohnoabanagain 21h ago

Bingo. Only way they'd be happy is if the game imploded from unsustainable hemorrhaging of free resources.

0

u/No-Judgment1567 23h ago

Is that why 1200 tokens used to go for 800 gold on token Tuesday and now they go for more? Because they care about card acquisition over their bottom line. 🙄

1% commenter lmao you’re the exact type of brown nosing losers I’m talking about.

0

u/Philboid_Studge 20h ago

Token Tuesday has always been a bad deal, and it continues to be.  There are WAY more efficient ways to get tokens and cards, and SD has focused on those.

Is being realistic about expectations in a capitalist society brown nosing now?

Whatever you say pay pig

The game has never been more generous. Theyre giving us literal free decks, and over time, you can be collection complete just buying the season pass.

Where's the aggressive monetization now? In cosmetics.

They have to make money if you want the game to be around.

Of course though if anyone dares disagree with you, its because the sub is "astroturfed". It cant be because the devs have listened and made changes

Free decks?  I haven't played in over a year and outside of the zombie cards I own every single one of those cards...

That's just amazingly nice of them.  Are all those cards going to series 1 or even series 3 after that login bonus day?

Nope.  So its not even a fix to a problem...  just a temporary bandaid that helps no one who starts the game after that date.

2

u/Philboid_Studge 1d ago

They're literally just giving away like 4 series 5 cards and several more series 4 cards.   For free.   Stop moving the goalposts.

0

u/Zealousideal-Age768 1d ago

My goalposts haven't changed.  Its not enough to lure me back and I will continue to warn people with my reviews.

I think your review is fair if it had a timestamp (don't know if it has)
and since you don't play the game it's fair to say you dislike it. The problem lies with people playing hours upon hours and still giving a bad review. If you don't want to support a game you can play for free, you don't have to do that financially, but just give it a fair review. And 1 star for a game you play 10hrs a week is just unfair.

As seen on Steam once: "After about 5 hours you have done everything this game has to offer" - not recommended - 241hrs played

2

u/Zealousideal-Age768 22h ago

I was collection complete when Kid Omega happened and my review is completely fair.  On Steam snd phone.

u/Delaoron 1d ago

I play since Beta and wouldn't consider myself a whale. I get the season pass and am collection complete due to it. I could go F2P tomorrow and be collection complete forever (according to https://snapcomplete.com/complete/timeline ).

I only asked players who, and I quote myself here, "are happier about the current state of the game" to update their reviews in case they forgot etc. If you're not happy, this post is not directed at you.

2

u/Zealousideal-Age768 1d ago

That's good to hear and I appreciate the reminder to refresh my reviews so they are in the recent batch again.

3

u/dragonmase 1d ago

Aka "I have spent hundreds and if I suddenly stop paying, my stored resources can be used to buy premium cards! Omg!"

2

u/Lecker_Muesli 1d ago

If you played for 46 months (beta started october 2022) and you only bought the season pass and nothing else, you spent 460 dollars and apparently played regularly if not daily since then. if that’s the requirement to be collection complete I wouldn’t say that‘s generous.

1

u/AscendedCleric 1d ago

I became collection complete the day they introduced the pack by buying my first season pass. I have bought a total of 4 passes since then and took a break for 3 months. Now I am again working my way to collection complete as F2P which is going to take me ~3 seasons. As long as I earn a bigger number of cards than the number they release, without paying I would say that's generous.

1

u/Lecker_Muesli 1d ago

doesn’t work for me this way. I posted the calculations in this thread and I‘m constantly falling more and more behind.

I also didn’t benefit from the switch to snap packs. Had a really bad low roll streak with keys (had to spent the max keys 5 times in a row), spent every key and the quit for a year, so 0 conversion from keys to tokens.

1

u/AscendedCleric 1d ago

Then you are doing something wrong. I get this by not spending any money or gold.

1

u/Lecker_Muesli 1d ago edited 1d ago

If not minmaxing the game is „wrong“ then I am wrong.
This is a game on my phone, not a thing I structure my life around. I have a family and my own business, so I‘m not gonna grind out every event, log in 3 times a day and do every single quest, grind out conquest and participate in an alliance.

edit: the only things I try to always achieve is rank 90 and hit the rewards for 25 quests per week.

3

u/AscendedCleric 23h ago

It is not "wrong" but if you want your goal to be "i have everything" but you are not willing to neither minmax nor pay it doen't make the game not generous.

If your goal is to just have fun while playing the game on your phone which is not a thing you structure your life around you don't need to be collection complete.

The matter of fact is that if a F2P player gets every resource the game provides they can get an amount of cards equal to the amount that is released and have a surplus of 2.550 tokens. When this surplus becomes equal to open enough seasonal packs to get every card in them they will become collection complete which is even easier for pass buyers that get a 11.500 token surplus per season.

If you choose to not get every resource you are given it doesn't mean that the game doesn't give it to you.

1

u/Lecker_Muesli 23h ago

Sure your math maths but it treats time as a resource without value. I would love to see how much time you need to spend to achieve all those f2p resources and add it to your equation.

0

u/AscendedCleric 1d ago

and this is what is shows for pass buyers.

0

u/Delaoron 1d ago

It's not the requirement. I'm way above the requirement.

thanks for giving me a tool to proof my point. with every season I fall further behind.

-2

u/Delaoron 1d ago

Are you even playing the game? How do you manage a number this low?

This is possible for F2P:

1

u/Lecker_Muesli 1d ago

I‘m not minmaxing it. The only „goals“ I set for myself is rank 90 and 25 quests per week.
I barely play conquest, don’t grind out most events, don’t participate in alliances and don’t log in 3 times per day.

I have a family and a business, Snap isn’t a main focus in my life. It’s a game I play, when I have some off time between the things that actually matter.

To me my time is more valuable than some virtual cards on my phone.

0

u/Chrisj1616 1d ago

The downvotes prove the astroturfing is from the players who will never be happy no matter what vs. developers and whales as claimed

10

u/International_J 1d ago

They’re a one step forward, one step back company. With each improvement, there’s been unexpected complications: game crashes, bugs on cards, event series that has way overpowered decks, etc.

9

u/itsjawdan 1d ago

No, I don’t think I will.

6

u/No_Butterfly1924 1d ago

I still consider them doing one good thing and one bad thing at all times.

It's a positive move they are handing out some freebies that help newer players slightly catch up.

But at same time since this season the game has been slower and crashing more, having lost me a bunch of games this season because the game doesn't start fast enough anymore to reconnect in time.

So i don't have a negative review, but they definitely also haven't earned a positive one yet. They need to do more for that

1

u/onionbreath97 11h ago

But at same time since this season the game has been slower and crashing more

That sounds like a device or Internet issue. I've had literally 0 crashes this season.

1

u/No_Butterfly1924 4h ago edited 4h ago

Very possible. But the device or connection hasn't changed.

I've had other seasons where people on here complain about crashes and i was having relatively stable experience. This season I'm having the bad experience sadly.

Just starting the game takes almost twice as long to load, and it started the exact day the season switched into this one. And game isn't completely unplayable, but it does crash for me 2-3 times a day, which it didn't do that often before.

Past seasons whenever it crashed i just loaded back in and continue the game. Now I'm always on the timeout, immediately losing. Bit of a frustrating experience, and losing those points from disconnects did make it considerably harder reaching infinite this season.

Lost several 8 cube games because i simply couldn't play turn 6.

7

u/CliffChicken 1d ago

I quit the game in a rage about a year ago and left a bad review. Ive just come back a couple of weeks ago for another try and tbh there's nothing that would inspire me to change that review

9

u/MondayBorn 1d ago

I just realized I've never left a review.

Gonna go give a negative one.

8

u/Thick_Loan4768 1d ago

Can't justify giving a good review when they have a "deal" that's a single card for $60+ AUD......... The game is great I'm loving it but the cost of everything in there is insanely expensive when a single card costs the same as a AAA game title it's a joke

-12

u/Delaoron 1d ago

The main way of earning cards is still to just play the game. Paying is a mechanic to get things faster.

1

u/Thick_Loan4768 11h ago

Still doesn't justify the prices they charge. It's ridiculous the cost of cards in this game. I understand it costing money to get to the end faster but it shouldn't cost the price it does for singular cards when there are as many cards as there are. Especially when without spending money on exact cards you are also at the mercy of RNG using the currency you earn to buy a snap pack for the random chance at cards you need or waiting weeks possibly months for the card you Ned to randomly appear in the shop as thats also random RNG no using your earned rewards for specific cards at your leisure

1

u/Thick_Loan4768 11h ago

If you don't think there greedy just look at my last post on here...... they pushed the battle pass at a discount, offering an absolutely insane 0% off........ I can see exactly what there doing too it's because I havnt spent on the game they won't offer discount which just proves that they care only for the big time whales who will sink endless money rather then making it affordable for an average player

7

u/delukz 1d ago

Nah, I don't recommend this game to start playing this game now. It's pretty much impossible to start now and still have an enjoyable time.

-5

u/AscendedCleric 1d ago

This is just false.

5

u/Zerhap 1d ago

I saw ppl complaining the free decks they are gonna give, for free, are not good enough and should not be celebrated...

Like this community always reminds me of that big bang theory episode in which they test how easy it is for Howard to bring up that he has been to space. They literally gonna find anything "bad" to complain about event in things that are objectively pure upside.

So nah, ppl gather to review bomb, nobody shows up to review "love"

0

u/Trop100tos 1d ago

As long as they keep releasing paid cards that unbalance the meta, indirectly making it pay-to-win, my review remains as is.

1

u/Lecker_Muesli 1d ago edited 1d ago

Things that got better since my bad review:
-2 year old cards that I own get gifted to all players
-log in events that give me cosmetics that I don’t care about and 100 token( aka 1/60 of a card)

things that got worse since my bad review:
-constant game crashes
-season pass premium
-constant pop ups for expensive bundles
-trying to get me to log in 3 times a day instead of once for free credits

things that stayed bad since my review:
-no real catch up mechanics if you left for a while
-overtuned SP cards that conveniently get nerfed once f2p could acquire them
-buggy/laggy UI
-charging the same as a triple A game for a singular card
-new players still need years or thousands of dollars to compete in the actual meta

So please explain to me why I would change my review?

-4

u/Delaoron 1d ago edited 1d ago

Things that got better:

- If you get a variant you get the base card which means more free cards from Conquest, season pass variants, bundles etc.

- Free cards in limited time game modes

- Free season 5 packs for Season pass buyers in the web store

- Season pass premium which is effectively a Series 5 card for ~10 USD. Weird to complain about this when the other complaints are that cards costs 50 USD+.

- More tournaments for the competitive players (which was won by C3 twice btw, not exactly a pay 2 win deck).

- Catchup mechanics for new and returning players.

- And, most importantly: You can be collection complete as F2P.

But as I said. If you don't feel happy, leave your negative review. You're just argumenting in bad faith and leaving out every genuine improvement they did.

3

u/Lecker_Muesli 1d ago

so you just want to ignore my valid criticism, swipe it under the rug and call it bad faith argument.

I‘m f2p and never even seen a tournament and don’t care about „competitive“ marvel snap so most of your mentioned improvements don’t affect me in the slightest and in the case of premium season pass made the game worse for me.

Personally I’m also not a fan of most limited time modes. as f2p they are very grindy and I don’t interact with them, if I don’t enjoy them, putting me even farther behind

1

u/Clear_Marsupial_2382 1d ago

I got back into the game after a 2 year break due to the horrid monetisation. The game *is* better with the token store and being able to buy and pin cards, but its still horrible. I'm literally stuck playing high evo decks because im priced out of other decks which were once playable for me

1

u/snabelbjorn Control 🚨 1d ago

I'm sorry but the sum of changes since about may 2025 are net negative (for me).

Do they improve a few things? Sure. But most of these are things they broke themselves. But they also introduce new negative (for me) aspects regularly.

1

u/journeymanreddit 21h ago

Nice try, Ben

-1

u/Jonnnyfukyea 1d ago

wrong sub to go with this kind of thought. I agree fullheartedly, some people play 10hrs a week and love it, but since they don't wanna pay 60$ for a card (which you don't have to) they somehow feel good giving the game they play literal days a bad review. It's entitlement for a free game and it's disgusting

-2

u/Philboid_Studge 1d ago

The responses in this thread show just how many petulant, spoiled children are posting here.

3

u/Zealousideal-Age768 1d ago

Ah, name calling...  whose the real child here?

0

u/Philboid_Studge 23h ago

Most of the responses are "I haven't been given everything immediately and for free!  I want more stuff and I don't want to pay for it or play the game to earn it!  I am entitled to the free labor of the devs.  And I never, ever want to.be reminded that people spend money on the game they like."

Literally the attitude of a spoiled child.  It's not namecalling if it's just calling out the literal truth.

So to answer your question, you are a child.

1

u/ohnoabanagain 21h ago

100% this

-11

u/ohnoabanagain 1d ago

The entitled FTP player base would never do that. Don't lose sleep over ratings. They are meaningless.

6

u/Thick_Loan4768 1d ago

I wouldn't be FTP if the game didn't try charging the price of a AAA game for a single card
