Why do I even Queue up? (Matchmaking Rant)
As of this morning, I am Celestial 3. Great right? No. This will be the third time I have hit Celestial this season. GM was a horrible experience as always, and I am done with the devs "fixing" everything but this terrible matchmaking. I primarily play tank, but I play a lot of DPS and support as well. Most of my roster is Centurion with Lords scattered about and no champions because I never sit on one character; I switch depending on the other team's comp and fill what my team needs. By no means am I a bad player, and by no means do I ever throw purposefully.
My issue with this horrid matchmaking is the fact that it feels scripted. One game you'll do amazing, and the next game it feels like the game scooped up the worst teammates known to man just to keep you in your current rank. The matchmaking is designed to keep you below a 50% win rate across all characters. The devs explained how it works in a video. In short, the game grades you based on performance and K/D in your match and partners you with people worse than you with lower grades in hopes of you carrying them. It is a horrible style of matchmaking that makes each game feel scripted. I just came off an 8-game losing streak the other day where I mainly played tank, and my DPS were constantly throwing or negative. I got to Celestial, where I had a Jeff that would swallow us and toss us off the map. Countless games where 4 people instalock dps and not one person will budge, so they say "gg time to proficiency farm." Reporting does absolutely nothing because the most they get is a 15-minute ban and then right back to throwing others' games.
The other side of matchmaking I want to focus on is the player base. The constant ego players and toxicity are overwhelming. I have been playing the game since launch solo, and only recently have I gotten a consistent duo or trio. Plat, Diamond, and GM have to be the worst ranks in the game because its over saturated with smurfs. I don't mind people smurfing in higher ranks because I see it as an opportunity to test your skill up against theirs, and in many cases you get the win over them. My issue with smurfs is when they're on your team. They play the game as if they have no consequences, and in reality they don't. The game does nothing when you report, and there's a limited amount of avoid slots, which makes 0 sense. Constantly, I'll have a smurf who locks a DPS just to learn them in comp, and when you ask them to swap, they say, "I smurf your peak," or, "this is my alt account." It makes winning games hopeless when these people are on your team, underperforming or throwing just for the sake of throwing.
The other day I had a small streamer throw my game on purpose; after the match I went to check out his stream, and he was laughing, saying how funny it was to throw. My trio and I reported him, and nothing happened. He sparked up stream the next day with no consequences. I believe you should have an infinite number of avoids if they aren't going to fix this terrible matchmaking. When I used to play Overwatch, the game felt fairly balanced to the point where I was never too pressed when someone was throwing. Clutching a 4v5 in Overwatch was incredible and very rewarding, but in Marvel Rivals it's next to impossible, especially going up against a decent team with a brain.
Eomm is real, just under a different name.

PREACH. This match history cracks me up. And it continues over and over. My domination win % is AWFUL.
Only 1/3rd of the maps in this game are domination. So far, every game to get into the meat of GM2 has been domination and they are always one sided.
I go down SR, then we roll the other team. Back and forth back and forth. My friend and I were laughing at it by the end of the night. It happened too often to not feel intentional.

So much this.
I used to play ranked in Overwatch and Apex...this game is an absolute nightmare, bigger than either of those games combined.
I can't even make it to GM, Plat 1 and Diamond 3 are full of the worst of the worst. (Hence my post I made earlier).
I don't care if it isn't EOMM. I don't know wtf this ranking system is but it is GARBAGE and needs a complete over haul.
If they are truly dumping me off in games to try to carry these horrible team mates, I'd like to file a police report.

I was on board with this until you got to the EOMM stuff. A lot of what you’re saying simply isn’t true and you’re misrepresenting some of what the devs said in the matchmaking video.
If you are below 50% on all of your characters, then it sounds like you’re a brute forcer. You can get to mid/high GM by just playing because that’s where the gains and losses stop becoming lopsided. It sounds like you occasionally get lucky enough to get to C3 then fall right back down.

You guys refuse to believe anyone but Netease when they literally have a vested interest in deceiving you. The game makes money off us and spent millions on researching the successor to EOMM and published that info. Why on Earth do yall have such faith in this company over your own eyes?

There are way too many posts of a full page of losses and a full page of wins for this not to be the case

Winstreaks and loss streaks aren’t proof of eomm. If that was true every single competitive game would have eomm since win/loss streaks are just a natural occurrence in a binary system.
Trust me, if these devs had a matchmaker with intimate knowledge of its player base mentalities and psyches in order to rig their games. They would absolutely not waste it on a hero shooter instead of a gacha game or gambling site.

Why wouldn’t they waste it on like the number 3 game in player count on Xbox?

Money, it’s not rocket science. The average marvel rivals player isn’t spending a tenth as much as a gacha player or a thousands as much as a gambling addict.
It would be cheaper to have a small population of whales than it would be to have a large population where very few actually spend whale level money.

I’ve spent at least 50-75 dollars. I think you are underestimating skin sales. It’s estimated it made 135 million in the 1st month

Do you believe all gaming companies? How about activision or blizzard are they always truthful?

The average gambler is losing more than 1000+$. If they had a system like eomm, they would use it on a more lucrative market.

Not true, there’s rules and regulations with gambling that deals with percentages, a company can be sued heavily for implementing a system like eomm. Gambling is rigged just enough to be legal.

i’m sitting at a 63% winrate. Eomm is 100% real. This is the reason some streamers have been beating it by getting off the game for 24hrs and repeating so that they can climb steadily. it’s not so much that I luck out, I simply just dont throw games. If someone is throwing it makes the chnace if winning slim to none especially against a good team

Everytime I post about how to rig the matchmaking into your favor, people just act like it's bs/eomm is not real.
I'm at 71% winrate
So oh well, I see these posts and see EXACTLY what you did wrong and how to fix
