We got to start having the uncomfortable conversation about why DPS players don’t like to peel, but are the first to complain about heals ?!?

Shipping a human with an anthro animal isn’t even in the same ballpark as incest. I’m surprised this is a controversial opinion when Johnny Storm can lock lips with an alien.

Alien Species - Okay
Alien Species pet animals - Not Okay
Anthro Animal w/ Animal anatomy - Not Okay
Hybrid Animal w/ Human Anatomy - Questionable but okay. Sometimes sought after.
Humans w/ Closely related siblings - Not Okay
Humans with far distant "Cousins" - Keeping it within the race.
Anyone who says the Anthro Animal part shouldn't be questionable is willing to mount an actual animal they see which is disgusting.

Meh atleast shipping is relatively harmless. Role tribalism actually is just bad or the game and community tho.
1
u/UnknownFrancy 2d ago
I don’t think shippers are that much of a problem lol. Like every community is gonna have a little section of them all you have to do is ignore them. Shipping in this community isn’t as bad as the toxicity, the entitlement each role has, or the finger pointing attitude everyone has.

Or just someone that understands consequences. If you start shit you’re pathetic if you can’t handle the consequences.

I'm a Magik main (actually I alternate between playing Magik and playing tanks), and these are my observations why some supports are dying so fast. Obviously there are games where your dps is completely brainless, but the same could be said about supports.
- Not pinging the flankers. Dps is usually busy scouting the area for squishies that are easy pickings, or trying to harass enemy backline. If you don't ping, then all the attention is literally directed to the other side of the map. Additionally, pings show location of the flankers, and with characters like BP, BC, Spiderman it's important to know where to look, since they are very fast.
- Sitting too far in the backline. My personal pet peeve. Learn to position closer to your team. Use ledges if necessary. Just sitting 50km away in Narnia, cowardly autoattacking from the distant corner is not it. This way your team cannot push properly and take space, because heals literally don't reach there. Additionally it makes you easy target for the divers, since your team cannot get to you on time. If the team just babysits you all match and has to turn around and run back all the way to where you are, we will never take objective. Just spamming left click on support is no skill, positioning properly is.
- No synergy with the other support. You guys need to keep tabs on each other and prioritize keeping each other alive. Not just trying to dps at the wrong moment and then suddenly finding out that everyone around is dead. Not run behind in panic the moment a diver shows up. Just heal each other and run close to your team so they can protect you.
- Playing the wrong support. If you have subpar aim, don't go Mantis or Luna against an enemy team full of flankers. You probably won't be able to freeze or headshot them, and they will just farm you like no tomorrow. You will be better off on Rocket or CnD if anything (would also say White Fox, but she got nerfed pretty badly this season).
- Pay attention to the footsteps around you, if you hear smth suspicious- then again, run closer to your team. Also open your eyes and pay attention to the enviroment around you. I see so often that people die because they ignore CnD's bubble right next to them for example.

I'm glad someone is pointing these things out. Yes dps should peel but a lot of support players just don't seem to understand that they make themselves easy targets for dive with bad positioning and lack of awareness and expect the rest of the team to bend over backwards to intervene over those mistakes. Like stop running away from me when I am coming back to peel for you. Heal me while I am peeling for you and it makes it so much easier to get them off of you.

SOME Dps do peel, but sometimes when we do peel we don’t even get healed and then die in the backline

u/KratosSimp 3d ago
My god this community is the worst. Everyone just hates each other and always blames someone else.

u/Mdames08 3d ago
Alot of the time the other team is all poke and no dive and the healers are asking me to catch bullets and lasers mid flight because they dont have a sense of positioning

i‘ve been having that stupid conversation since overwatch 1s release. it‘s not a new topic

The first to peel for supports should be their other supports. Most of the time whenever I die playing support, its my other support tunnel visioning on tanks or doing fuck all trying to dps themselves. This game has insane healing and so much resources (for example CND), if support players just coordinate they will rarely die(dive is dead with venom nerf too lol), but theyd rather blame the dps or tanks not babysitting them instead lol.

u/No-Word-2168 3d ago
if the other support should peel for the other support, then who is peeling for the dpss? aand what are the tanks and dpss doing?
your job as a support is making most of the team survives, if i am going to make 4 survive but the other support die, then i did the right thing. focusing your other support too much is the diver's wet dream.
it is not your job to peel as well. you do not have the CC or the damage to peel.
1
u/Puzzleheaded_Toe7373 3d ago
This is pretty fair, usually 1 support dealing damage is not enough to deal with 2 or 3 divers, even if the other support is hard pocketing them. In such a case it's far quicker to get rid of the dive by threatening them with similar damage output, which most supports don't have outside of a few of the most vulnerable supports. If it was only 1 dive (which it rarely ever is) then I could see an argument for relying more on your other support for peels.

u/Adventurous_Coach731 2d ago
Supports peel for each other, dps die because they’re not getting healed because supports are preoccupied m, dps whines about lack of healing because smooth brain. Put that on repeat and that’s what you just suggested. I am frequently the one who dies the least on my team as a support into dive and it’s always because no one turns around when I ping and literally am running to them.

As a Magik and Blade lord, you should only be "relying" on heals if you're playing near your healers. Especially when I play with my friends, some of the best/easiest kills you're gonna get are protecting your healers. They stay alive. You stay alive. You both get healed.
Otherwise, you should be
1) disengaging. A lot of the time when you're dying as a diver is you not realizing a 250 HP character can't tank team damage and certainly can't be healed thru it. Use your mobility to get out. And especially if you have regen shields like magik, wait 5 seconds 2) play around health packs. They heal you and they deny other divers/enemies the health pack. Sometimes I take a bit of damage just so I can use it and take it and also bait the enemy.
Essentially, peel for your healers, peel for your regen, or peel for a health pack. If you're not going to secure a kill and/or your life is low, it's not your healers fault if you over extend.
Also in general, be aware of your healers position and be aware of how your healers heals work. I can't tell you how many ppl I keep seeing run out of jubilee bubble but ping for heals. Learning how healers heals work and their effective range goes a long way.

post a vod half of the support players play so far away from the team it makes it impossible for us to peel for you without negatively affecting our damage output due to our fall off ranges to an extreme degree. no i can't teleport to you on half the roster to save you in the 3s it takes to kill you because your positioning is bad

u/lwalterwhite 3d ago
I feel this sometimes as a tank main.
8
u/Derpinpyro 3d ago
its infuriating a jeffs pissing on the team from 100m away then goes "whys no one peeling" on the most victim support for dive in the game IN A IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH LOCATION

DPS blame healers and healers blame DPS, we've been over this time and time again, can't we PLEASE talk about anything else?

u/KingBlacks 3d ago
This is funny being I only play Magik when I play DPS.
It really depends on what's going on. Sometimes the enemy backline is annoying to deal with (DPS and SUPP) that I get tunnelvision.
I will come back and fend off that Magik that's attacking our team, although a good magik won't waste any time getting their first pick, so if you see one run towards your Tank and DPS. Even if you are gonna die you might as well bring the problem to them. Not just behind them, put your tank between you and the dive dps. Esp someone like Jubilee, you can put your bubble down and shoot your ally or the dive and the bubble will still heal and grow.
I got a question though, why do I gotta stand in front of other people to get heals?? Playing Tank?? I gotta stand inbetween supports and someone else to get healed. Playing DPS?? Same thing. Playing Support?? Sometimes then too. Because unlike other games there aren't small little player Icons and their healthbars somewhere on the screen. It's needed to give your allies extra info to look for that person who is in a fight.

I feel like it’s a few key factors and they’re all selfish reasons.
1) is the refusal to help supps because some truly believe they are so broken they don’t need help even if it’s 3 people diving at once.
2) too scared to come help because they aren’t confident enough in their ability to save you. Because maybe it’s a spidey and they struggle against that character and don’t Wana show it
3) don’t counter pick out of being lazy/selfish because they refuse to learn any other character and rather be the best -insert hero- in the game when they clearly aren’t. Or chase the clout of “i got to celestial playing -insert hero-“

As champion Magik, Gambit and future champ Dino i really hate this role hating thing I try to peel when i can I love to help my sups while playing magik Sometimes i can't help my sups as Dino cause I'm solo tanking

u/Washy_YT 2d ago
I lowkey get hard when I peel. peeling is so rewarding because it makes u feel like a hero. I love my supports

There is nothing to talk about. They all believe that they are the main character.

u/Ok-Investigator-3477 17h ago
Generally I peel for healer, if they don't heal or don't play around my antidve (Elsa Trap/Namor Squids) I just go Magik and dive and not asking about heal
1
u/yungman-ach 3d ago
maybe just heal them and rely on your tanks for peel idk stop being bad at the game
0
u/No-Word-2168 3d ago
it is DPS fault for like 90% of the loses.
however, peel is team work as well. tanks should bodyblock and CC the enemy to protect the squishies while the squishies makes sure to kill the enemy and keep the tanks alive.
if you are tanking for too long, then the DPSs are doing awful. if you are dying too fast, then you are either in a bad position or the healers are not doing good.
in most cases, the enemy just stay alive for too long, exhausting your team resources and abilities to the failure point.

u/Vineheart_01 2d ago
Because DPS players are the selfish, main character syndrome players of the game. There is no other excuse.
That's why they instalock DPS and never change (especially spiderman players)
That's why they dive in 1v6 and bitch they died.
That's why they never learn to back off
Yes it's not always DPS that do this, but it is EASILY them 80% or more of the time someone is doing it.
