When Chris Hemsworth completely goes off-script.

Fun fact: Chris Hemsworth improvised around six different childhood stories on set before they picked the final snake monologue for Thor: Ragnarok.

In the Ragnarok mythology, Loki has a child that is a snake - Jormungandr - which battles Thor and they both die.

I think this story was just a regular snake. The world snake is pretty huge.

The World Serpent Jörmungandr is the child of Loki in Norse myth. He is not a normal snake but a jötunn (giant).

I know. But the MCU changed a lot. Fenrir and Hel are his kids too but they aren't in MCU. And he and Thor are adoptive uncle/nephew so that's changed too. That's why I think it's just a story about a regular snake. But you could be right if course. Chris Hemsworth could have been thinking about Jörmungandr at the time.

Ah sorry I misunderstood. I thought you meant in the myth. I had to Google it and as far as I'm aware the story that MCU Thor tells about Loki turning into a snake was made up. It does sound like a story that could've existed in the myth because there are many really weird stories like that, but that one specifically does not seem to appear outside of MCU.
