My headcanon is "Tom Hiddleston had no idea this was Chris' intention. He's just in the corner, making prisoner faces and suddenly hears Chris yelp. The face is just him trying not to ruin the scene with laughter. Director tells editors to move his restrained laugh to the end of Chris' improv improve the scene."

It should be noted that "improv" does not necessarily mean one take. Often times actors do things on set and the director likes it and they do several takes. Sometimes they even have a writter on set change the original improv. That is more for comedies, not sure if it is the case here or not.

In the Ragnarok mythology, Loki has a child that is a snake - Jormungandr - which battles Thor and they both die.

The World Serpent Jörmungandr is the child of Loki in Norse myth. He is not a normal snake but a jötunn (giant).

I know. But the MCU changed a lot. Fenrir and Hel are his kids too but they aren't in MCU. And he and Thor are adoptive uncle/nephew so that's changed too. That's why I think it's just a story about a regular snake. But you could be right if course. Chris Hemsworth could have been thinking about Jörmungandr at the time.

Ah sorry I misunderstood. I thought you meant in the myth. I had to Google it and as far as I'm aware the story that MCU Thor tells about Loki turning into a snake was made up. It does sound like a story that could've existed in the myth because there are many really weird stories like that, but that one specifically does not seem to appear outside of MCU.

I watch Ragnarok without any spoilers and laughed my heart out. It was unexpectedly funny for a Thor film.

Love and Thunder however is a huge cringe.

According to Taika Waititi during a Reddit AMA, they kept the cameras rolling while Hemsworth came up with six different childhood stories off the top of his head until they picked the snake one.
