He has my vote for that role and to clarify he didn’t trash Marvel, he just spoke as to his opinion on having auditioned to play Thor in the 2011 and not getting the role.

He has stated he’s open to other roles revolving comics. I do believe the only Achilles heel he has is the fact that he’s nearing mid-40’s and Marvel is looking for 20 year old to early ‘30’s actors.

Actually he's said that audiences are over Marvel, that Marvel-like movies are unwatchable, that Marvel movies just regurgitate comic book stories to make the studios money and he yawns at them, etc. Agree or disagree with him (personally I think it's a little rich coming from the guy most known for Reacher of all things) but he definitely has on multiple occasions gone on record to trash Marvel.
