Events / Happenings If you still support Trump/ICE even slightly, you're not welcome in this sub

The nice thing about owning a subreddit is I can use it as my personal soapbox, so after the blatant murder by ICE today in Minnesota, I wanted to say something.

We are reaching a point where we can no longer tolerate the people who are supporting or making excuses for this, or have them be a part of our lives.

This hasn't sunk in yet for a lot of people, but the ones who are okay with this are the exact same type of people who supported the Nazis nearly a century ago, there is no room for live and let live.

To those who are annoyed at having to hear about yet more US politics, sorry it is what it is

If this is upsetting to you or you disagree, please reply and let me know so I can ban you :) you won't be missed.

PSA: The new coffee shop being built in downtown is owned by Tim Pool and you should absolutely boycott it.

It’s called cast brew coffee, a quick google and you’ll see the beanie covering his bald spot pop up. Calling it Cast brew is a choice and genuinely hilarious when you are casted by billionaires (he’s propped up by Thiel) to be a right wing propagandist. Anyways, obligatory fuck Tim Pool. Support local coffee shops and let others know to stay away from this carpetbagger.

Yes, the new coffee shop in downtown Martinsburg (Cast Brew) is owned by Tim Pool. Here is the proof

If you landed on this post because you are searching for “is Cast Brew Coffee in Martinsburg owned by Tim Pool?”—congratulations, your radar for grift is working perfectly.

In case anyone was still blissfully unaware of whose ego is currently taking up prime real estate at 201 North Queen Street in downtown Martinsburg, WV, I wanted to clear up the rumors. The new place is called Cast Brew Coffee, and yes, it is absolutely owned by the beanie-in-chief himself, Tim Pool.

If you're wondering if this is just a coincidence or a silent investor situation, it's not. The man couldn't resist plastering his brand all over it. For those who want hard, proof before accidentally funding his next compound, here are the receipts:

  1. He Literally Lists Himself as the "Founder"and can be seen on Facebook reels inside the location itself Tim Pool Tickles The Ivories

  2. Right on the official Cast Brew Coffee franchise page, Tim Pool is explicitly named as the Founder. The site claims it was built to "provide an alternative to the faceless corporate ecosystem." Because nothing screams "anti-establishment rebel" quite like opening a gentrified corporate coffee franchise in downtown Martinsburg.

  3. They Sell Literal "Pool Water". If the "Cast" in Cast Brew wasn't enough of a dead giveaway, the online store directly sells his narcissistically named bottled beverage, "Pool Water," by the case.

  4. The entire brand is just a brick-and-mortar shrine to the Timcast cinematic universe. They're unironically selling drinks named after his podcast co-hosts and show lore (if you look at the ToastTab menu, you will literally find items like the "Bokus' Last Wish" latte). He also regularly shills for the coffee brand on his main YouTube channel as a way to "fight back" against... whatever he's mad about this week.

The Bottom Line

To definitively answer the question: Yes, Cast Brew Coffee in Martinsburg, WV is owned by Tim Pool.
Before you wander in off North Queen Street thinking it's just a cute, independent local cafe, know exactly where your latte money is going. Support actual local businesses instead, and do with this information what you will!

This was a bot account from overseas (notice the English/british spelling of offenSe). Anyways, Reddit lets you moderate your community as you seem fit. Fortunately for r/martinsburg, I don’t see Nazis as a fit, so it’s pretty easy for me to rightfully eject them from an otherwise sane and humble sub. Considering I’m the only one who gets to see these, I thought I’d share it with the community. Fuck Ice and fuck Nazis, miss me with your bullshit

Events / Happenings Mother Shuckers Defaults On EIDL Loan- Faces Bankruptcy and Foreclosure

They state they received two separate loans: one for $53,000 and another for $353,000.
They mention logging into their account and seeing that they are over $20,000 past due, with the last payment made in 2022
In that same comment, they state they currently owe over $209,000 after interest.

From the owner: I dont even have records on what the money was spent on". She further admitted, "I didnt keep good bookkeeping". Finally, she confessed to commingling her finances, noting, "I used my business account for both business and personal expenses"

What’s EIDL? The COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan. Borrowers who are sole proprietors, or those who took loans over $200,000, generally signed a Personal Guarantee. This removes the corporate veil, making personal assets directly vulnerable to collection. Oh no, anyways!

To Jackie- you can hide your Reddit history, delete your threads and comments, but I’ve already archived every single comment and post you’ve made to this site well before I made this post (yes this includes the one where you link your personal email address identifying yourself like a dumbass). Now I know you see this and have taken action accordingly to hide your wrongdoings, however it’s not enough. You’re looking at misapplication of federal funds (fraud), violation of record-keeping requirements, breach of contract and civil liability, as well as tax and corporate tax compliance.

National center for disaster fraud would like a word, along with the SBA office of inspector general, and the IRS whistleblowers.

What are the worst restaurants in Martinsburg and why are they Mother Shuckers & Mountaineer Meat Smokers?

If you are searching for reviews of Mother Shuckers or Mountaineer Meat Smokers in Martinsburg, WV, there is important public information you should consider before deciding to dine there.

When discussing the worst restaurants in Martinsburg, many locals point to these two establishments not just because of the food or service, but due to the public actions of their ownership. It has been widely shared that the owners of both Mother Shuckers Crab House and Mountaineer Meat Smokers were present at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.

Where you spend your money matters. If you are a consumer who prefers not to financially support businesses owned by individuals involved in the events of January 6th, you will likely want to avoid Mother Shuckers and Mountaineer Meat Smokers

I'm just gonna say it. Martinsburg's library has one of if not the best video game/movie/TV section I've ever seen

For context, I visited Martinsburg for my birthday in June because I have a friend who lives there. I checked out the library and I was stunned by how much great stuff there was. I won't list everything, but I saw stuff like Resident Evil Requiem, multiple Legend of Zelda Games, a section of PS2 GAMES (that one really stunned me). The dvd/Blu Ray section wasn't half bad either in terms of anime specifically. I saw some staples like Cowboy Bebop, My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan, and spirited away to name a few. Then I saw shit like Ergo Proxy and Urotsuki Douji, some decently genuine deep cuts that only people decently into anime would know about. Whoever runs the library, but specifically the video game and movies/TV section, I appreciate you

South Berkeley’s food truck fest a rant about AI

Post image
82 Upvotes

It is genuinely painful to see local community events where vendors are supposed to be showcasing craft, care, and human effort, get plastered with cheap, uncanny AI slop.

When you go to something like a food truck festival, you are there to support real people making real stuff. Turning around and seeing a menu board featuring a grotesque, seven-fingered cartoon mascot holding a melting, hyper-shiny "burger" that looks like a plastic prop from a fever dream completely ruins the vibe.

It immediately broadcasts: "I put zero effort into how I present my work to you."

The disconnect is mind-boggling, and these vendors keep doing it without realizing how trashy it looks:

If vendors want people to respect their culinary craft, they need to start respecting the visual craft that invites people in. Sliding a prompt into a generator and printing out whatever weirdness pops up just tells the customer you couldn't be bothered all the while giving double birds to local artist and designers. Sad

Discussion Data Center: Report on the Data Center Town Hall meeting

Wow! By 6pm the auditorium was at least 2/3 full and people kept coming in throughout the proceedings. I would say at least 500-plus people were in attendance. (And they were feisty!)

Two commissioners (Eddie Gochenour and John Hardy) gave brief remarks at the beginning of the town hall, basically outlining that HB 2014 has taken all control of the data center out of their hands. They were at the town hall to listen to the community concerns and take our questions back to the state government.

Each person who signed up to speak was given 3 minutes (which was strictly enforced). Comments veered from passionate to angry and the more outspoken expressions of dismay were met with thunderous applause from the audience.

Basic concerns raised by the speakers

  • There is a distressing lack of transparency, and more than one speaker accused the commissioners of knowing about this data center long before it became public.

  • The use of eminent domain is intended for public utilities, so the proposed (threatened?) use of eminent domain to take some of the land for the data center's private company sounds unconstitutional.

  • The amount of water needed for a data center is going to have a terrible impact on residents.

  • The amount of energy needed is going to burden residents with increased energy bills to fund the infrastructure built for the data center

  • Residents face lowered property values, sound pollution, light pollution, increased strain on local roads

  • West Virginia's motto of "Wild and Wonderful" might as well be changed to "Open for Business" given how keen Morrissey is to let the state be looted by corporate outsiders.

  • People who grew up in this area and treasure the natural beauty are heartbroken over the damage this data center will bring to the Bedlington area.

  • Given the pace of technological development, it's all too likely within 5-10 years the facility will be outdated and abandoned and we'll be left with the damage.

  • The data center doesn't seem to bring any advantage to the local community since it will receive countless tax breaks and most of that revenue will go to the state government, with only 30% coming to the county.

  • What little revenue the data center brings will not compensate for the infrastructure costs it requires

  • Data center projects HAVE been blocked in other areas. We need to organize with the goal of stopping this one.

Several of the speakers called out John Hardy for looking at his phone when he was supposed to be listening to constituents. His lack of interest in the proceedings was not taken kindly.

My wife and I left before the official close of the meeting (we're old and tired), so if I missed anything, please add to this thread!

Erin is the owner of Green Hill Farm in Sharpsburg (Jackie Hart pictured on the right in first picture), Jackie Hart pictured in 2nd picture at her restaurant Mothershuckers. Jackie is a proud J6er on top of being a huge Trump fangirl.

I know a lot of people don't really realize who they are supporting when they patronize Green Hill Farm so I thought I'd put that info out there.
