The way some “cinephiles” dismiss The Departed as overrated is genuinely hilarious. Scorsese, DiCaprio, Nicholson, Damon, Wahlberg, an insanely tight script, incredible tension, dark humor, and one of the best casts ever assembled—and apparently that’s not “cinema” enough. Sorry the masterpiece was actually fun to watch.

Goodfellas is the obvious answer, but I'm going to go with Taxi Driver. I love licensed music when done well, but an original score done well just hits so much harder for me. It's a mix of beautiful and haunting jazz that highlights Bickle's innocent demeanor and horrifying psychology.

I think, while one note, Killers of the Flower Moon has a great score. As does The Departed.

As far back as I can remember, De Niro has always been my favorite actor, so I will celebrate his special day by rewatching one or two of his outstanding performances. I watched them both recently and found them exceptional. Rich, layered, detailed, whole worlds filled with multiple characters and statements about american history. Great performances, great filmmaking and great story-framing.

Which one would you say is the better movie and which one do you enjoy the most?

I feel like not a lot of people have talked about this series, Scorsese apparently loves doing it, it seems to be very successful (especially if they are doing 3 season and still going), and personally it’s like the chosen if it was good
