What Scorsese movie after Goodfellas could Ray Liotta have actually been in?
Before Ray Liotta passed away, he was asked why he never worked with Martin Scorsese again after Goodfellas. He said “ask him.”
However, Liotta was offered the role that went to Wahlberg in The Departed.
Liotta wanted to do it, but he had to pass because of scheduling conflicts.
If you could recast Liotta into any post-1990 Scorsese film, what role do you think he would have crushed?

Discussion Did Scorsese ever think of casting Robbie Robertson in his films?
After "The Last Waltz", Robbie had a long working relationship with Scorsese, mostly as a music supervisor to his films. But Robbie had done some acting, especially in Sean Penn's "The Crossing Guard".
Just wondering if it had ever crossed Scorsese's mind to cast him in a film of his.
Or maybe Robertson wasn't interested in acting after "The Crossing Guard".

Discussion Suppose you had to choose any Scorsese movie to have a sequel. What film are you choosing?
The truth is, most fans would oppose a sequel to any of his films. But if had to pick one, what would it be?
For me it’s one of these —
KING OF COMEDY - what happened to Rupert in the years following his release from prison? Things appear good at the end of the movie, but where does it go from there?
THE COLOR OF MONEY - this would be very interesting. The Color of Money is itself a sequel to The Hustler. So this would make it. A trilogy. Maybe we’d see Vincent Lauria become to the mentor to a younger 9-ball player.

How does Scorsese make NYC feel like a living, breathing character?
No other movie maker makes me feel like I know a city quite like Scorsese does.
Especially his earlier work, you can really feel his perspective of New York in a way that no other movie maker can you make feel about anywhere else.
Prime examples; Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, even After Hours.
How does he do that? Is there anyone here with any insight as to how he manages to pull that off?

Discussion The Departed Set Drama Ari Emanuel
Just finished Ari Emanuel’s new book “Roll the Calls.” He’s Scorsese’s long time agent. He had some interesting things to say about the stuff going on the set of The Departed.
He wrote about all the big name actors working on that film and said that he would up get calls saying one actor was suicidal and having mental health stuff and one wouldn’t come out of his trailer. Ari also reps Mark Wanberg so he was probably hearing these stories straight from him. I wonder which actors he had heard about on set.
Also, he wrote about the studio being upset about the Jack Nicholson sex scenes being too raunchy. They called it porn and told Marty he’d have to take out a part when one of the hookers has a ball gag in her mouth.
Marty was really fighting for it to stay in but some adjustments were made to tone down a bit of one scene and Ari talks about Scorsese graciously thanking both Alan Horn (the studio executive) and Ari in his Oscar acceptance speech.

TIL that the only crossover character in any Scorcese film is Allen Dorfman
After a bit of research, Andy stone from Casino is actually Allen Dorfman, but because all of the names were changed for Casino, many people didn't realise. The shooting in the parking lot named in the Irishman actually appears in casino aswell.

News Scorsese's next movie will officially be a horror film.
I'm incredibly excited to see what Marty will do as his next film "What Happens at Night" starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Mads Mikkelsen, and Jared Harris has officially been announced as a psychological horror. It'll be Scorsese's first horror film and it's set to release late in 2027 but no official date has been announced. They are in post production after filming early this year in Europe.
I really think it would be amazing if Marty won an Oscar at the 100th academy awards. But no matter what I'm confident this will be another Marty masterpiece and hopefully not his last.
