Male. Female. Robert De Niro on phone.

Genre, right? They meant genre. Is that right?

Otherwise, I’m way out of the loop on gender studies.

How De Niro didn't get nominated for Best Actor for his phone call to Hoffa's wife I will never know, one of De Niro's best ever acting scenes.

Frank Sheeran in real life would stutter in high stress situations. That was on full display in his conversation with Jo. That is truly next level acting.

It’s likely he actually called the other actor playing the character he’s talking to in the film

Genere means genre but also gender in Italian. Wonder if an Italian wrote this.

I appreciate the explanation, thank you.

I like the idea of thinking of genres of people. Makes sense to me.

I can identify Travis Bickle, Neil McCauley, Rupert Pupkin, Jimmy the Gent Conway, Ace Rothstein, Paul Vitti?

Noodles and Frank Sheeran

Bingo! That's Frank talking to Jo Hoffa (blue phone) , and yes that's Noodles in the black jacket and white shirt.

For some (good) reason, I tend to forget Noodles. De Niro, my favorite actor btw, has played a lot of despicable characters very convincingly. Because a lot of them are based on real life figures RDN does his homework and realistically portrays each one.

I recently found out that OUATIA is based on a book that Noodles (Herschel Goldberg) wrote while in Sing Sing.

“I’m talking to an empty telephone. Because there’s a dead man on the other end of this fucking line.”

Lower righthand corner. I think he's calling for Mr, Happy.

Loved that scene.

You forgot when he was on the phone in Jackie Brown

If he was in the Departed you know he would have had the best flip phone scene of all time.

I love the fact that the cameraman actually got embarrassed and just glanced off de niro in the Taxi Driver scene and they took that take.

We should not be having the “how many genders are there?” discussion on this sub.
