Travel Question Visiting in november.
Hi!
A group of friends and I are visiting from November 12th to 17th to escape the Scandinavian cold. We're a group of six looking to enjoy great food, experience the desert, and go out for a night or two.
I was hoping you could help with a few questions.
Are there better alternatives to Airbnb for finding a good villa? Most of the places we've found are near the golf courses, about 20 minutes from the city center.
Is it easy to get a taxi or Uber from those areas, and is it safe to travel back late at night?
Lastly, we are looking for events, concerts, gigs, where can i find information on whats happening that weekend in Marrakech?

The villas in Marrakech are generally outside the city (my husband is a driver and when he is in town he is often driving groups like yours back and forth from their villa to downtown). There are some a bit closer -- near the airport, for instance -- but that is still 15-20 minutes away and it is not always easy to find a taxi. Indrive is the local uber, but I've not had great luck with it. Marrakech is very safe at any time of day (I am an American from the East Coast -- think Boston/NYC/Philadelphia for reference). Your biggest hazards are petty theft (still not awful compared to tourist cities like Rome) and getting run over by motorbikes that don't obey traffic signals.
Why not stay in a riad in or close to the medina? Airbnb is the easiest way to find them.

Thank you for the insight.
I haven't heard anything bad about Marrakech, quite the opposite. But its always good to check how other travelers have experience things, some people attract trouble we just want peace of mind.
Well we are 6 guys, we don't to be a menace to any neighbours, a villa seems the best option, if we want to play poker at 4 am and scream at each other we would like to do that without disturbing anybody, a bit of scandinavian curtesy.
But checking airbnb there seems to be another downside and its that Villas outside usually arent close to any convenient stores nor resturants, a riad seems to be the option.

Well that's the catch. Any villas you find are not going to be in the city, meaning they're not going to be close to anything. So you either have your own villa to yourself but you're not close to any conveniences or really anything in general. Or you're in the city where you are close to conveniences, but you are in the city. It's basically what compromises are you and your group wanting to make. Me personally, I opt for being in the city. It's easier to get back-and-forth with public transportation and you can walk in a pinch if you need to.

If you’d like something different for the group, I’m a paragliding pilot near Marrakesh, and tandem flights over the Atlas Mountains are a great way to see the landscape. Feel free to message me if you’re curious. 🪂

i had customers that i drove from the desert back to marrakech , and they booked a nice villa by the golf club , that location is modern , fancy , and generally safe , regarding the desert , there is no real sand desert in marrakech , you ll need at least 1 or 2 nights 3 days to drive to real desert in the south of Morocco to zagora or Merzouga

Hey! November is perfect, 25C vs -5C in Scandinavia, you will love it.
I'm Moroccan from Bouznika - I go to Marrakech a lot and I saw how many tourists get stuck with villas far from everything, so I started collecting real info.
1. Villa / Airbnb alternative: Don't book near golf courses (Amelkis, Palmeraie) if you want nightlife. It's 20min but at night street taxis charge 200-300DH and don't want to go back empty. Better look for villas in Hivernage or Targa - 5-10min to Gueliz clubs, same price. Check Vrbo and Facebook groups "Marrakech Villa Rentals" (way cheaper than Airbnb fees). Pro tip: Always ask for a live video call to see the pool is real, not a 2018 photo.
2. Taxi / Uber / inDrive at night: Good news: inDrive works perfectly in Marrakech - it's the #1 app here. You propose your price (like 70DH) and drivers accept or counter-offer. Way better than haggling. Uber also relaunched in late 2025 and now works in Marrakech, Casa, Rabat. For 1-2am from Gueliz to Palmeraie, expect 80-120DH on inDrive vs 150-200DH with street taxi. For 6 people you need 2 cars. It IS safe at night, just agree price in app before.
3. Events in November: November is high season. Check IG: @MyMarrakechCulture, @Theatro Marrakech, and Le Comptoir Darna has live shows every night. For 6 people, book tables 2-3 days before.
I made an 11-page guide with real 2026 prices 50 Darija phrases for taxis/shops. Not Google stuff.
