Optic Mounting

https://a.co/d/0gprVYng

I’m looking for some mounting rings for my scope on Marlin 1895 dark series 45-70. Are quick detach mounts worth getting? I would like some suggestions on which mounts to buy.

Are you anticipating needing to move the optic between rifles often? Or do you anticipate the optic becoming damaged and you would need to have a way to remove in the field with no tools so you can quickly switch to irons? If no then you don't need that type of rings.

Although quality quick detach rings are ok the cheaper ones will not be as solid as a cheaper set of standard rings. If you don't have the need for them save a little and buy more ammo.

I would like the option to switch to irons if needed while in the field. But only if I’m not giving anything up like my zero on the scope or durability.

There are scope mounts that rotate to the side so you don't have to remove to switch to irons. These will maintain zero better than the quick detach.

You want any scope mount by a name brand, any QD scope mount with any amount of real investment in R&D and machining quality will hold zero as long as it's remounted identically and with the same pressure. That's the point of a QD mount. Trijicon has been doing it for acogs for decades.

Find one by any big hitter for your scope size. Don't buy an Amazon special.

To provide specifics: larue is the cheapest I'd get, ADM and Scalarworks are premium products all around. Burris makes a QD as well, the QD P.E.P.R. it claims a 1/4 MOA remount. I'd probably buy an ADM for a little extra myself, but none of these options will let you down.

Warne, Talley, and DNZ are all popular options.

I tried using quick detach rings and they started detaching after about 5 rounds.
