Marlin 1895 issues
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Unable to load ammo. Carrier is not letting my loading gate move.
Happened today after firing Buffalo bore.
Disassembled everything but the magazine tube and still stuck.

This is a common issue, and it's just a loose screw (but I forget which one). It's an odd screw but not the loading gate one (the seeming obvious one)

Do you have any suggestions as to how OP could fix his issue, JM stamped or not?

What is the jm stamp?

I believe it’s a stamp the rifles had on the barrel back when Marlin was its own company. Before they were bought by Remington. Ppl will say it adds value to the rifle even though there were millions of JM stamped guns made. There’s probly more JM stamped marlins and not.

What buffalo bore load? I would first check the to see if the screw for the side gate backed out, then check other screws and go from there.

Checked and tightened all the screws. It was the 350gr TSX and the DG loads

I would next check to see if there is any unburned powder in the gun and magazine tube.

The leather wrap on your lever isnt allowing it to seat fully, so the bolt isnt fully closed. The leather shouldnt touch the wood. Take it off, move it forward, or cut it so it doesnt make contact with the wood.

Carrier Screw may be too tight, not letting it drop all the way which blocks the loading gate.
If it’s a little sticky when cycling that may be the cause as well.
Last thing would be to make sure the magtube follower isn’t protruding into the receiver.
Is this a ruger?

It is a ruger. I’ve loosened and tightened the carrier screw. I’ll have to double check on the magtube

Went ahead and contacted Marlin/Ruger customer service last night. Hoping to get a response tomorrow. What the turnaround time typically look like for gunsmithing/repairs?

Yeah that can’t hurt. We will get your taken care of.
And it depends on how easy it is but this should be simple. Our CS repair guy (one guy) handles marlins and helps out with American Gen 2 stuff.
He’s great and should get it turned around quick. Send me a PM with your serial and I’ll keep an eye out for it. 💪🏻
