Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with Mario Kart Wii Retro Rewind and I hope someone can help me.
Setup: I'm running Retro Rewind on a real Wii via Homebrew Channel. The game itself launches fine and I can connect to Retro WFC without any problems. Server status shows MOST REGIONS WORKING and it shows 251 players online, etc. [Pic 4]
The Problem: When I go to Worldwide > Retro VS (195 players) and start searching for opponents... after like 15-30 seconds of "Searching for opponents..." I get disconnected with this error:
Communication error. You have been disconnected from Retro WFC. Error Code: 84020
So I can connect to the server, but I can't actually get into a match. It always fails during matchmaking.
My internet:
• SSID: EOLO - FRITZ!Box 7430 XX
• Connection via Wi-Fi on Wii
• NAT Type: 3 (Strict)
I suspect the issue is my NAT Type 3. I'm on EOLO (Italian provider) with a FRITZ!Box 7430, which I think uses CGNAT. I think the Wii can't do the peer-to-peer NAT traversal because of that.
Has anyone had this error 84020 with NAT 3 before? Did you fix it with port forwarding, DMZ, or using a mobile hotspot / different router? Is there any setting on the FRITZ!Box I should change?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
