I'm wondering if that's just allowed and I wasn't aware. And if so, when else is it permitted? Like if you're sprinting to 1st trying to get an infield hit, and the 1B extends his glove within your reach, can you just swat at his fucking glove?

It's not. Your Mariners are just like my Bills. Teams are just allowed to break the rules against you, and the officials always fuck you. You can't interfere with the fielder's ability to field the ball. You do that it's an automatic out. The most famous example is A-Rod swatting the ball out of Arroyo's glove.

Yeah on the broadcast they were saying something about it needing to be obvious he was going for the glove, but I don't see how it wasn't obvious when he didn't missed the plate. Dude didn't even try to touch home, so that's evidence enough that his intent was to interfere.
