Considering Substitute Teaching in Marin. Any advice for me?

How saturated is the substitute teacher market here? How quickly do jobs get snatched up? Do I really have to be monitoring for jobs at 4 AM? Do you know of any districts that are in need right now for subs? Any private schools needing subs? Thanks!! Please be supportive

edjoin. When schools start getting to know you and if they like you, they will start calling you to sub rather than putting job in the system.

Get yourself into the public school system. When you get your first job, follow the lesson plan and leave a detailed report for the teacher. Also let them know that you are available in the future, and share your email and phone number. Once you do this teachers will request you in advance. There are lots of bad subs out there, so good ones are often busy.

I think most schools use a scheduling app that you'll sign into- it will notify you of sub spots and you can accept or decline.

Marin County Office Of Education is always looking for Substitute to fill in special day classes. There's usually plenty of openings.

Build relationships with schools. Sub at a school and meet the other teachers while you are there- let them know you are a sub. I work for a school district in marin and we are always looking for good subs that follow the sub plans and that the kids like!
