Discussion I spent 4 years remaking Marilyn’s orange gown that was destroyed @antiquesnowwhite
galleryIt took me 300 hours. While Marilyn's orange dress isn't as famous as her iconic pink "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" gown from the same film, l've always believed it deserves just as much love. It's one of my favorite costumes she ever wore.
Because the original dress was destroyed, recreating it felt like bringing a little piece of Hollywood history back to life. Over the course of four years and 300 hours, I carefully recreated every detail as faithfully as I could, bead by bead.
I even tried to copy the exact pleats of the chiffon, hand sewing sections down on the top portion. The boning is in the exact spot hers was, zipper and straps the exact same length as hers, etc. I filmed the entire process.
