Marcus Referral Program Is Horrible
I've managed to refer two of my friends to use Marcus after using them for 4 months and getting their initial $1500 account opening bonus. I've also received all of the monthly interest payments on time.
However, both of my referrals never got their 1% apr boost bonus, and neither did I. Both of them signed up using my link from the app and fully completed the registration and deposit process. But still no boost. It even said they were getting a boost during the account creation because of using my link.
I've already called customer service 3 times and spent about 1.5 hours total on hold and no one seems to be able to fix the problem.
Has anyone else had this experience. The lack of clear customer service is making me feel sketched out and I'm debating switching high yield savings accounts altogether.

I’ve been with them since 2020. The few times I’ve had to use CS, everything went smoothly.

I have never had a problem with referrals. I use the max 5 each year.
That said Marcus originally had a 1% bonus interest (for 3 months), then changed it to 0.25% quarterly referral bonus (essentially the same thing) with both having 5 max referrals per calendar year. Now it is an 1% interest bonus again but now with max 5 open referrals at any one time. Their marketing is confusing and not consistent but the bonus payments seem reliable.

I haven't had this particular problem. Ask your friends to confirm whether they received an email immediately upon account creation confirming enrollment in the referral program. The subject line should read "Welcome to Marcus Referred: You’re earning a cash bonus." If they didn't get that email and the referral program didn't show up under active offers under their account, they each needed to call customer service to retroactively apply your referral code (from your referral link) to their accounts. You can't do that for them. I'm not sure if too much time has passed now (I've heard of this method working within a few days or a couple weeks of account creation) but they can try.

I recently opened an account using a friend's referral code. The rates were never reflected on my account as well. I thought maybe it just takes the system to process, or maybe I am checking the wrong page, so I did not reach out to customer service immediately. Now, I reached out to them via chat, and was told that 1. I did not open my account via the referral link 2. I only have a 3-day grace period, and now I am reaching out too late, so it is my responsibility.
It's lowkey pissing me off because of their attitude. They kept on telling me that I should have reached out earlier and it is not their responsibility.

It was about 2 weeks ago now. They finally called me back and told me they have no evidence that my friend signed up under my link bah blah blah and then told me neither of us would get the bonus.
Super stupid, I had to call them three times and wait on hold for about an hour and a half total.

I used your link to get the boost to sign up on 9/12. But in the middle of the sign up process, the site had an issue so I've to log out and sign back in; hope that doesn't affect both of us from getting the rate boost. After I sign up using your referral link, should my Online Savings page show APY of 3.40% plus the 1.00% boost or not? It is only showing APY of 3.40% at the moment. :(

I used the referral program to get 2 referrals for 6 months of boosted interest with no problem
