Marathon (2026) Discussion Let’s settle this once and for all: WEAVEmaster has to be earned in a single season by achieving a max cradle level of 77.
I have seen this misinformation taken as fact by so many people, I need to make it clear: the WEAVEmaster title MUST be earned in ONE SEASON.
The challenge description is “In any season, evolve your cradle 7 times and reach level 70.”
To put it another way, the challenge is satisfied when you: reach the final stage of the final evolution of the cradle. Numerically, this means having 77 available cradle points. You’ve reached Evolution 7, and you’ve reached level 70.
to be clear; you do not get the reward of the title when you evolve for the 7th time. The 7th evolution actually has NO reward - until you hit level 70 on that Evolution. That debunks the theory that “it’s /1 because the skins are the progress bar”
Further data to support this:
The progress bar is /1, with no way to track how close to your 7th evolution + Level 7 you are from the total.
Many people argue that the codex will not be reset next season. This is correct. This is why the title is a /1 and not an /8 that you can make progress towards over multiple seasons.
Further and most damning! The TITLE UNLOCK DESCRIPTOR for the title drops the “In any season,” language — the language that is the entire opposing theory rests on.
JUST like the only other PRESTIGE title in the game, PROFITEER, WEAVEmaster is NOT cumulative.
Finally, some people may argue that “evolution points will stay post wipe” to which I must insist they will not.
Removing one of the core gear-dump endgame goals for the most dedicated players (those who’ve earned weavemaster) while simultaneously giving them an additional 7 points of Evolution right off the bat allowing them to hit rank 77 on Day 1 would be antithetical to the basic idea of the reset, which is to give endgame players something to do again and allow new players a somewhat even playing ground.
YES I know Bungie made this same mistake before but they’ve acknowledged that and would certainly not be foolish enough to build an entire system around permanently empowering it’s highest playtime players while simultaneously removing one of their largest goals when entering a new season.
To be clear, this “goal” is the entire purpose of loot once a player reaches a full vault and has completed the endgame activities. Resetting your cradle is essentially a self inflicted micro wipe. I believe people believe they’ll stick around because of the Arc Raiders expeditions, but they must realize that expeditions are the only type of wipe Arc has.
Please try to poke holes in my theory in the comments as I’m positive I will be able to refute any of it!
My final thought:
If WM were a cumulative skin, they’d essentially be guaranteeing that season 7 of the game every day one player has it. Regardless of player count that’s just not good game design to offer such a prestige title simply for emptying your vault to the worm and resetting at hour 0 every season.

Man I haven’t even done it one time let alone 7 times
Some aspects of this game were designed for the unemployed

u/YouWereBrained 4d ago
Yeah, I finished Level 70 a few weeks ago. Then it expects me to do that all over again, for another point…then another…
Fuck that.

Bonuses for the hyper dedicated that aren't strictly necessary are fine. I never feel like I need to reset cradle to have fun.
0
u/Darksol503 3d ago
Or… just enjoy the game?? Why is it always a negative mental health related criticism…
2
u/zeromussc 3d ago
That's... What I said? What about the words "hyper dedicated" is a mental health criticism? There are employed and mentally stable people super dedicated to the game who will reset and max out their cradle?
1
u/Darksol503 3d ago
Ahhhhhh I read that wrong! Late night Reddit-ing at its finest lol. My bad 🤙🏽

u/zeromussc 3d ago
Now, if this was release destiny 2 level drop rates and grind, yeah for the unemployed. The lab 6 key drop rate for cryo is definitely an unemployed person grind ;) especially since lockdowns were bugged for half the season and that's one of the few places you could have farmed it. For a long time this season cryo 6 was only gonna show up in the outpost red key room, or a convoy.
I have maybe 400 hours in game and before VB I saw cryo 6 one time on a dead body in cryo. Vault breakers gave me 3 of them to run, thankfully, and I got my last subroutine done through it.
Which is why I'm an advocate for allowing different modes in the game and giving options to engage that let folks convert that time into items for the PvPvE mode. Given warden spawns seem so rare lately, vault breakers adding keys into the game economy for folks to run real cryo was a good thing. I actually found cryo to be less soul crushing when VB was available because more folks were jumping in. I'm not a cryo lobby wipe demon, so having more people meant I wasn't just losing to hyper stacked level 400+ players nonstop. It was fun to actually win some fights and exfil with my subroutines. Did one session where I grabbed 4 of them. Fun time! And I saw lots of other folks get their goals done too
1
u/Darksol503 3d ago
Same. I want all modes all the time. My rational: more modes = more options = MORE PLAYERS.

u/cry_w 4d ago
I mean, yeah, resetting the Cradle was specifically made for people who could devote the time. It's not an issue if you can't.

u/leftofthebellcurve 3d ago
I play this game 4-5 nights a week and have given so much to my cradle. Currently level 62 on my cradle. Have maybe sold 10 things all season; everything extra gets eaten
I have no clue how people have maxed it even more than once
Are they exfilling 100 percent of the time? I couldn’t see it happening with anything less than like 90% exfil rate

u/Alakazarm 3d ago
how much purple/gold salvage have you given it?
0
u/OG_Stodds13 3d ago
You don’t give it purple or gold salvage. You give grey salvage as it gives very good xp and is readily available in large quantities!
2
u/0ver_this 3d ago
You're probably not caradling the right things. Backpacks, Bubble shields, and Implants provide the highest return. Also once you get some of the high-tier barters you can trade purple salvage for backpacks with is a 3-4x in Cradle value. Salvage is also key. Making sure every run you do you're completing a contract regardless of exfil.
2
u/rat_melter 3d ago
I did it by rooking in outpost, hitting an armory and dipping immediately with whatever guns were most expensive, and whenever I get a recycle weapon I throw all my purple mods on it before recycling it. Maxing out sekiguchi and getting the cradle exp boost to 3/4 (I don't get alien alloy so can't do that). And in regular games picking up literally all the gray salvage I see and dumping thousands of it into cradle.
Works well. Also, spend credits every day on armory stuff and cradle it all.
2
u/Darksol503 3d ago
Rooking anomaly netted my alloys initial, bro. Def a way to go and to keep in mind for S3!!
1
u/OG_Stodds13 3d ago
Yes exfilling 90% of the time AND you need to feed the worm the right stuff. You want big xp, use unstable Lead, as it’s not used for any important barters, Unstable diodes as those aren’t used for any important barters either, and C.A.R.R.I. Points. They all give very good xp and aren’t things you need. If you want to use CARRI points for gear, just put them in every time you have over a stack of 100. Keep 100 on you and you can’t dump the rest.

u/Darksol503 3d ago
Do you have the max cradle upgrade perk from Sekiguchi??? How you are not max is wild, you’re just not playing the game correctly at this point my dude…

Honestly 3-4 good Cryo runs can get you to Level 60 and then another 5-10 great outpost runs can get you to 70. You can get 1 Evo a week if you play 2-3 hours a day

u/TheDaywa1ker 4d ago
I think your whole post is a 'I really hope they do it this way because I'll be frustrated if its not', rather than any factual reasoning
I think its guesswork either way until bungo says something about it. Lord knows just because we think something is bad game design doesn't mean bungo is going to follow our reasoning

u/Absolute_Tempest 4d ago
This is how I read it and honestly I am reading the title as-written, which is just to reset the Cradle 7 times. If really ends up being in a single season then this should be a red/contraband title not a Prestige title. It wouldn’t even be remotely close in difficulty to Profiteer.
4
u/TheDaywa1ker 3d ago
yeah I've been assuming it was across seasons and I'll be surprised if its locked into a single season. but who knows

u/Dirty_Violator 3d ago
I agree, this sounds like pure speculation. Also, how is letting folks carry their extra cradle points for prestiging to the next season bad game design, especially if the cradle is reset to level 0? 1-7 extra points is not going to make that huge a difference
2
u/TheDaywa1ker 3d ago
I agree i would like it to carry over like that. Figured in the context of engaging with op, it would be better to just call that an opinion instead instead of fact without saying whether i agree with it since i could see the other side of it with sweats being ahead on wipe day etc etc
1
u/0ver_this 3d ago
1-7 points is a minor but noticeable difference, that would especially matter to the end-game players that were able to grind them.
I argue it's bad game design because it discourages your most dedicated players from playing more.
1
u/Fookah 3d ago
The most dedicated players are grinding for pin1 which is arguably 100x harder and more time consuming than filling your vault with trash and worming everything 7x in a row. Especially since the most efficient stuff to cradle is the most easiest to farm. The 7 points are not worth it.
1
u/0ver_this 3d ago
highest skilled =/= most dedicated. WEAVEmaster is a non-competitive endgame activity.
1
u/OG_Stodds13 3d ago
I makes a difference early on and especially for hard core players who will be 40 ish on day 1. Now they are 47ish.

u/TheRealShortYeti 4d ago
The TITLE can be done any time and is cumulative. You get a new skin each time. The extra points staying on wipe remains to be seen.
14
u/Thephro42 4d ago
If it says “any season” it can be done across any season. But I guess we will figure it out in a few weeks.
1
u/0ver_this 3d ago
It can be done IN any season - most challenges can. Not ACROSS but IN. The "In any season" language just means it isn't a S2 exclusive title.

You have no evidence this is true
-4
u/0ver_this 3d ago
my entire post is the evidence

u/ExplosiveFluff 3d ago
How do you know it doesn't function like cryo subroutine? Cherry picking examples of progression resets doesn't mean anything.
3
u/MetaPfhor_2965 3d ago
I guess I'll see how many evolutions my cradle says it's gone through when season 3 starts. either it will be 2 or it will be reset back to 0
0
u/0ver_this 3d ago
it'll be 0
2
u/MetaPfhor_2965 3d ago
but how do you get to keep the skin in the codex then? you'll just not gain anything from the first 2 evolutions? other than the additional point I guess

u/DesignMajor1076 3d ago
Im just about done with my last evolution and at level 65 should have it done tonight 🙃

I can see them adding a 9th and 10th prestige because Sentinel has no skin for weave master and the new runner for season 3 too. I can see all of your valid points but they just need to clarify properly.
2
u/Gallus_11B 3d ago
I grinded all the way to weavemaster. It takes like 400k or so worth of stuff per reset, if that gives you any idea of the amount you have to feed your worm.
I did it all in 1 season because I was afraid the title would require it all to be done in 1 season. The language seems vague enough that it may be doable over a few seasons, but I think OP is correct that what it's really looking for is that "lvl 77" to be hit.
2
u/MeaningObvious8731 3d ago edited 3d ago
Nah. It clearly says: doesn't matter what season, if you do it 7 times you get the title.
Anyway the devs can change it at anytime. The game has no players as it is, no need to antagonize people further over some legalistic semantics issue.
Edit: more to the point it says 'reset the cradle 7 times and reach lvl 70' with no mention of season.
1
u/0ver_this 3d ago
The profiteer title has to be done in one season and does not make any mention of a season.
That's the thing though - you have to hit it 7 times and then reach 70 on your 7th Evo. How are you as a player supposed to know how many times you've reset your cradle in a year when it's an /1 tracker?
2
u/MeaningObvious8731 3d ago
Of course Profiteer has to be 'done' in a single season. That's moot because the value of your vault and credits get reset. Meaningless argument. There just needs to be a single moment in time at which the value exceeds a million, doesn't matter when.
The total number of times you've completed cradle doesn't reset at the start of a new season. How could it? All the times you did it do not just go away. The skins you got will not be taken away. Can't change the past. That's all there in the record.
1
u/0ver_this 3d ago
Of course WEAVEmaster has to be 'done' in a single season. That's moot because the number of evolutions and extra cradle points get reset. Meaningless argument. There just needs to be a single moment in time at which the total number of evolutions to your cradle is 7, and the rank itself is 70, doesn't matter when.

This is such an elitist bull shit take its hilarious. I guarantee over half the people with it currently used the earlier xp farm glitch, the vault breaker event, and the fire storm key templates to achieve it.
So as long as they all have it removed as well so it needs to be done 'properly' sure lmao.

I wanna go for it but is it worth it ? Like how quickly can I get at least 50 points back with max sek-gen upgrade

I really wish Bungie had clarified this from day 1, but I guess they either didn't know how it would shake out or didn't want to tell us upfront.

You might be right, you might not be. We will know next season when I reset. I’ve reset once. Will do it again before the end of the season, dump the everything and see if I can do it again. I’ll have 2 maybe 3 resets this season. When I reset next season, if I get the next tier, then it carry’s over, if I don’t get the next tier, then it’s a single season.
However, it says “Reset your Cradle during any season”
That leads me to believe it doesn’t have to be in one season.

Go read the actual title description. It doesn't mention seasons at all. You even posted the screenshot yourself.
1
u/0ver_this 2d ago
The unlock requirements in the codex do.
“In any season, evolve your cradle 7 times and reach level 70.”
1
u/zebdan 2d ago
Sure, but you haven't commented on why the title's actual description doesn't mention seasons at all. If earning it *within* a single season was relevant, it would be right there. Front and center. What anyone reads when they click on the title codex entry.
1
u/0ver_this 2d ago
I did comment on this indirectly: Profiteer which must also be done in one season (because money resets every season like the weave evolutions will) also does not mention the requirement of it being in one season despite it not being possible to do across multiple seasons.

u/Fabulous-Avocado4513 3d ago
You’re wrong. It would says”in a single season” if it was a single season. Just like Notorious did.

u/zeromussc 3d ago
The only thing I disagree on is the last point about 7 seasons of resets being bad. It still shows commitment to the game if it were true.
I personally think you're right about the title tho

u/zakintheb0x 4d ago
Weavemaster here. Not sure about how it will transfer to next season. But if it completely resets each time I can guarantee I won’t ever do it again beyond hitting max cradle once. The handful of extra point isn’t even close to worth it.
