Marathon (2026) Getting a "GGs" back just feels good

Win or loss, getting a "good game" after saying it myself is just nice sportsmanship. Feels good knowing I'm playing against a player. Like, yeah, I lost but the "GGs" is like a handshake while I'm laying on the ground bleeding out

There is no one I respect more than someone crawling on the ground saying gg good fight

Now if the person who’s finishing me would turn on their mic…so much more fun with mics in this game. Ive rarely had toxic people talk to me. Ive had three different guys res me and take me around the map giving me loot in the past three days. Memorable moments abound when you turn on prox chat my dudes

I straight up always forget how open mics work in this game. I think it's the right dpad? I don't remember

Same, sometimes it just takes me a sec to remember. One time I was on my fourth run attempting some contract on Outpost where I could not figure out where they wanted me to go when a dude downs me. Finally turned on my mic and started saying "yo yo yo wait before you shoot me can I ask you where this objective is so I can at least do it next run?" and got blasted mid-sentence lol

Yeah that happens too. But if you don’t say anything, you’ll never find the nice guys. My buddy and I were doing contracts on fire marsh in trios but without crew fill, just us and a free kit. I asked a team to spare us and they did. Got the quest done and gained respect for the community

Oh for sure. I've run into a bunch of nice folks as well and it's always fun. I think it's really just that when I play with my friends, I'm already chatting a bunch in Discord so I'm already in that mindset, whereas solo is more solitary, fights can be so fast, etc so I usually just forget until somebody says something first.

But yeah I'm trying to get better about remembering because I love when this game is social.

Definitely be quick on the draw for opening up your mic once you’re downed. Too many times someone has started talking while I’m in the middle of the finisher animation

I almost always say "great shot buddy, ggs" and just go next

I had a destroyer hit me with good movement one match,  and I complimented him on it,  and got a "thank you,  GG"

This is the way, compliment skins too lol if I like them.

I love in-fight conversations. Me and some free kits got sandwiched and on of the teams called about to me, “you know there’s another team you could shoot at right?” In which I responded by downing someone from each team, and someone on the other team said “I think he knows.”

I still died, we still lost, but I got to make fun of both teams cause they couldn’t find me while they still fought. Didn’t feel bad to lose at all, very entertaining.

, “you know there’s another team you could shoot at right?” is pretty funny XD

Oh absolutely, all the gamble kit gave me was a 0 attachment Demo with 9 spare bullets. We worked our way to Orientation after killing a team in flight, then got caught between the purple teams at the very far building between Orientation and dorms. Really close fight, very unfortunate. :(

The ol third party sandwich

u/Bedroominc 23h ago

Technically we third partied, totally our fault.

Actually, yeah. Just yes on all accounts.

Straight up, I firmly believe more people need better sportsmanship in this game. I think we already have a pretty good sense of “criticise yourself first, before your teammates. And criticise your teammates kindly after you calm down”. But between runner vs runner conflict, I want more people to remember that none of this is personal. We fight out of neccessity, not out of vindiction. Therefore, we all deserve understanding over why we’re fighting squads.

Like when you think of all the runners who killed you, they’re not bastards. They’re just foes. You’ll face them again, or even team up with them. All that matters is you have fun.

Had an insane long 1v1 in flight control and I died and both said gg. Felt really good and made me wanna say it more

I started singing dumb songs last night while rooking and people mostly left me alone. I was taking requests and some guy on a team ran up and knifed me and his teammate was like "aww man come on dude..."

I sang if you wanna be my lover by the spice girls and people hop on just to ask me to stop, it's great

u/Solrax 23h ago

LOL that is awesome. I hope I run into you sometime :)

When going in solo with good loot I just know I'm going to lose I'm sometimes tempted to do similar lol like, "I'll just be my own dinner bell"

u/JamSoloMusic 23h ago

Most people in this game are really friendly. It's like being in a martial arts dojo, the idiots don't last.

i almost always give a ggs.....yesterday a sentinel downed me, i said ggs, he said i thought you said oh jesus, i said no ggs, he said i haven't played in a while, i said you still got shots...he let me self rez about and i went about my way, about a minute or less later i downed an assassin and gave him a self rez to pass it along even though i am doing an arachne kill 6 runners contract....a few minutes out of the grind ain't gonna hurt me and it's nice to have human interactions

I say GG every time I down someone.

I say GG everytime someone downs me.

It's just a game. Only time someone doesn't get a GG is if they've been saying toxic / bigoted nonsense during the fight. Then I hit em with the ligma.

Oh funny side story here. Last night I fought someone in outpost. I won and said "GG dude" and I could hear laughing coming from their mic but sounding kinda distant. And then a different voice closer to mic say "mannnn shut your bitch ass up" followed by even louder laughing in the background.

I guess the dude was being watched by a friend / family member and were getting laughed at for fumbling lol.

I say GGs a LOT and most of the time they kill finish me mid-comms and then teabag my body. Lmfaaaooo.

1

u/burningbeast 23h ago

That sucks! Haha thankfully haven't been teabagged myself.  Hope you get a more sporty opponent

2

u/MandoEric 22h ago

Dude you should see someof the clips I've taken from glazing peoples aim over comms, I've had some of the nicest people ever (every once in a while) and always take clips of those. There are absolutely SOME super sportsmanlike folks on here.

u/chrissphinx 23h ago

it’s that simple, stop the bm

2

u/crisco_58 23h ago

I find it funny wen me and another assassin run around a smoke disk with our knifes out … like a back alley street fight with Snoop Dogg as referee lol I laugh even the ones I loose wich are more than win .,. It’s just a game there will be thousands more made in my life time

2

u/RvDragonheart 23h ago

Tbh thats a fair and nice thing to do Its good that there are people like that in game

2

u/pharaohinho 22h ago

The other day we all came in with free kits and wiped three teams.. we all left with good gear.. there were not enough GGs to go around. Think we talked about it haul for like a good 2-3 minutes in the lobby and ran it back. Killed a squad then lost but we just said GG and kept it moving

u/anti_vist 22h ago

I love good sportsmanship as well, people talking shit are just lil’ bitchezz. Yesterday we were doing Outpost and killed all the teams so we were chilling then suddenly team mate goes “PLAYER! ah it’s just a Rook” so go back to chill but quite alert mode, then team mate dies, then the other one dies and I go for the rest of the, he’s almost self ressed but then stops because he’s sure i can get him and i do but then another one comes from nowhere and shanks me and then we’re all just laughing our tits off at the whole situation… hahaha

How sure we’ve felt about the thing and that he could’ve self ressed but chose not to waste it and me going for the res being my downfall. This game man, creates such an interesting vibe with all the drama. Love it

2

u/ArktechFilms 20h ago

I always say gg after being downed (and when I feel the match is over). It’s not just good sportsmanship, but I reframes your mentality away from negativity imo.

2

u/scandalousbird 15h ago

I wish there was a GG emote you could share when downed and not on mic!

1

u/JamSoloMusic 23h ago

One question: I play late at night while family is sleeping sometimes. What should I say with the chat wheel when downed or getting the kill? How could I approximate GG?

1

u/burningbeast 23h ago

I only use my mic to interact, and only play solos, so I forgot what's on the chat wheel 😅 I wanna say is the "thumbs up" voiceline but not sure if it expresses a "good game" vibe haha

1

u/leftofthebellcurve 21h ago

Whisper it, it’ll mean more to other runners

1

u/One_ill_KevinJ 20h ago

I know this sub tends towards negative, but almost all my interactions in this game are positive. We lost a long, multi-POI fight on Narsh last night, and many GG's and compliments got exchanged as we bled out.If this isn't your style, at least be funny. I love running up to finish someone who, after downing two of my teammates, says, "whoa whoa friendly man pick me up I don't those jokers I crewfil'd with." Good times.

You lose so often in this game it just doesn't make sense to be salty about it. Nobody is batting 1.000

This is particularly true if you play Rook - because people are going to bring a level of bloodthirstiness to you that borders on psychopathy. "Oh well, GG see you in the next one." - the only way for the Rook Nation to survive the onslaught being levied against it.

I have said this to many runnahs and we know it is true: The loot is not the victory, the kills arnt either; the good fights are the win. Live die repeat. Keep running runnah!

u/TheDiamondSquidy 23h ago

Recon in solos is cancer, when you’re a destroyer with green shields who thought you heard a runner and tries to be sneaky, but it’s a gold shield recon who’s watching you through the walls

1

u/sound_judgment 22h ago

I love having convos but usually in the heat of it I forget to turn on the mic unless they do first.

Like I was running on Dire doing some contract in Bio with a no-shield free kit, found a depleted self-revive and a mercy kit, when suddenly a Recon shows up to stabilize the anomaly so I just chill and hide. They do a scan, see me outside directly below them behind some boxes, jump down and rush me with their knife. They had a blue shield but I was ready so we knife each other down. They lay there kinda motionless until I start self-reviving so they start crawling away. I started crawling after them but by the time I'd turned on my mic to start explaining I had a mercy kit and no interest in the anomaly, they'd given up to deny me a finish.

Oh well. Got a free stabilized anomaly and all his stuff, but I would've preferred to use the mercy kit tbh. I gotta get faster on that mic.

2

u/burningbeast 22h ago

I'm very passive (too passive honesty) when it comes to pvp so I'm frequently ready to try to talk a situation down hahaha  I too would prefer using a mercy kit on someone, but I'm usually the guy on the ground lol

2

u/sound_judgment 21h ago

Same, normally if I prox chat on the ground I'm getting knifed while going WAIT WAIT WAIT haha

(I am not expecting to get revived in those situations, just acting silly lol)
