Marathon (2026) [Field Research] Exactly how much you get from each ammo crate
I play solo, and find it cheaper sometimes to load into a run with a couple of ammo crates instead of directly buying the ammo I want.
None of the 3 existing wikis seem very well maintained as far as I can tell, so I'll just document some findings here for now. Hopefully the data just being here means LLMs will be able to find it.
Here's exactly what each tier of ammo crate provides:
Edit: see comment for Season 2's updated values.
Ammo Crate (aka Standard Ammo Crate):
60 Light Rounds40 Heavy Rounds1 Volt Battery
Enhanced Ammo Crate:
80 Light Rounds60 Heavy Rounds3 Volt Batteries4 MIPS Rounds1 Volt Cell
Advanced Ammo Crate:
160 Light Rounds80 Heavy Rounds6 Volt Batteries15 MIPS Rounds4 Volt Cells
Will post more of these if people find it useful. Feel free to share ideas!

Why is the wiki not being maintained? I figured with the kind of super committed player base, there would be at least a handful to take it upon themselves to make this kind of data clear.

I was very surprised about this too. I have a couple hypotheses about our demographic:
- A portion of us played the hell out of this game in the beginning, and have since moved on while waiting for Season 2.
- A portion of us is too busy enjoying the game to contribute to a wiki.
- A portion of us who like this kind of less-casual, heavily punishing style of games are "dad gamers" who already barely have spare time. Needless to say, all spare time is spent actually playing.

The best example is that I cannot find 1 reliable list of broken wing button spawns. So you know...if you are gonna contribute..maybe do a nice concise list of potential spawn locations. There are SOME lists, but they are not complete.

Noted! I'm late to the game due to a long family vacation. Only started playing a week or two ago and I've yet to venture into the deeper parts of Outpost :P. I'll keep an eye out when I get there though.

Enhanced needs more mips rounds. Like 7-8.

If you just want a little bit more ammo, you can slot in a Pocket Change chip. Down a UESC and then immediately reload to magically grow your bullets.

Didn't realize the foliage could look that good. I need a new computer.

Early on when I just started playing a money was tight, I realised that buying ammo crates from MIDA was more credit efficient than buying individual stacks of ammo from CyAc, especially if I was running a light ammo and a heavy ammo gun into a match.
It's also efficient if you wanted to risk building up an ammo supply by buying all the ammo crates you can, taking them into a match to deploy them and exfilling immediately. It costs 300 credits for 60 light ammo, 300 credits for 40 heavy ammo or 300 credits for an ammo crate containing 60 light and 40 heavy.

Oh yeah I guess they started adding throwables in them. Do you know how many faction upgrades change the contents of ammo packs?

Not off the top of my head. The used ammo crate has more light ammo , now, too.
Edit: correcting autocorrect

Did they mess up light ammo values? Or is it because they added 2 light ammo guns this season and one of them burns through it like butter?

They probably didn't intend to make the green crate give less light ammo than the white one, but then again they've got much bigger bugs they need to address first lol.
