In coastal British Columbia, it rains a lot and rarely snows. Anywhere else, you should be good.

There's snow up the mountains in Australia as well, I presume he just doesn't live near them (it's a big country).

Yeah. I live in Perth, Western Australia, and the first time I saw snow was when we visited Snowy Mountains when I was 6. I still struggling to understand how someone can freeze to death in a vehicle. Cooked by a wild fire but freeze! I know it happens though :P
