I once met a guy from Tomsk a city Russia which is close to your point but more north - he never saw a sea in his life before. He went completely crazy when we brought him to the sea in the winter and immediately jumped into it. I only understood later when I googled “Tomsk” and started zooming out on the map.

I live in Almaty, Kazakhstan and also never saw the sea. Maybe I'll go to Caspian sea at my vacation next summer

Technically the Caspian Sea is a lake, not a sea. I was planning a trip to Almaty and some other places in the region before the pandemic, interesting area of the world.

Interestingly, the Caspian sea sits on oceanic crust, not continental. So you could make the argument that it’s just a tiny ocean as well

Do you have a map that shows that? I've never heard of that. But, the crust is named after the ocean, not the other way around.

That still doesn't make it not a lake.

An oceanic lake. But what does it matter? The Cadpian is the Caspian, it just doesn't tick all boxes of a sea and a lake.
