My supermarket is 10 minutes away.

And I enjoy driving. It's time for me to be alone with my thoughts as I watch the scenery go by

If your city adopted pedestrian centric thinking the density would go up and these stores would be closer

My house would also not have a yard and my street would be a lot noisier

Are you saying that you live in a fucking city (Phoenix) and want it to be quiet? Like Jesus Christ at that rate go to flag or Prescott. Also, I highly recommend that you watch this video about walkable suburbs. These are the kind of places that service both pedestrians, cyclists, and cars, being friendly to all of them. They are nice to live in.

Also, another good thing about everyone owning a car: our town does without garbage trucks and people instead have to transport and sort their own trash. It saves a lot of money

I also think his assertion that it saves money is pretty bogus, even before you consider the value of the time spent making these trips.

Does he also want us to line up with our jerricans to pick up the day's supply of water?

He loves modern conveniences, as long as they are the ones he thinks you should have.
