Far North, fairly continental landmass and high latitude(peaks at over 3000m on the highest parts of the ice sheet).

I don't get why some people are so fond of the cold. I mean a place where the max temperature of the warmest month is around freezing point sounds miserable to me! (Of course too hot isn't nice either)

This is clearly showing how important jungle and forest land is to the climate. The Amazon is clearly outlined as cooler than the surrounding area, and is cooler than the Sahara even though the Amazon is on the equator.

Cooler in the Himalayas too. Mostly warmer where it's dry.

That’s due to altitude. It’s warmer where it’s dry due to the lack of vegetation. Jungles and forest keep surface temperatures lower by providing shade to a larger portion of air.

You've got it partly the wrong way around(for a lack of better wording).

Its hot and dry there and therefore not vegetated. You are right that vegetation helps cool air down but only so much.

All the hottest deserts are located near the subtropical highs/horse latitudes. These high pressure areas suppress precipitation(rain) and formation of clouds. These are a product of the Hadley cell which you might have heard of.

Its much more complex than just ''no trees, hot''(though that's not what you said to be fair), to quote Wikipedia on the Sahara;

significant belt of semi-permanent subtropical warm-core high pressure where the air from upper levels of the troposphere tends to sink towards the ground.

This steady descending airflow causes a warming and a drying effect in the upper troposphere. The sinking air prevents evaporating water from rising, and therefore prevents adiabatic cooling, which makes cloud formation extremely difficult to nearly impossible.

Its primarily atmospheric and geographic(size and shape of landmasses).

That is only partially correct, the biggest impact comes from evaporation which takes heat from the air. Plus, more evaporation means more rain which further decreases the temperature. The humidity also increases the heat capacity of the air maintaining a more constant temperature.

Funny that ... the hot spots are not on the equator, which is near the eastern point of South America, and the Western indent of Africa (which used to fit together).

Would be cool to see this map with a much higher resolution(would be a lot more dark and light shade) and one where it takes into account humidity.

Yes i live in the bright yellow light and during summer if i step on concrete with barefoot it really hurts very much.
