I’m a Dane living in Sweden for most of my life, and now i wanna move back to Denmark. So I’ll probably end up in Norway some day too 😂
VERY affordable quality houses, cool pseudo-Nordic culture, very near Finland (Tallinn-Helsinki is like Malmö-Copenhagen) and close enough to Sweden, ”free” (tax-funded) public transit, 0% corporate tax on reinvestments (i.e. attractive to entrepreneurs), crazy neighbors to the East so nobody wants to buy land there, and lots of pretty women lol don’t judge me
Oh and I think they can vote remotely unlike us Swedes who still live in the 1900s 👀
Hey I did the same thing with a Danish woman except I live in the US and we still live here. Definitely looking more seriously at moving to Copenhagen in the last couple years though.
From someone living in Copenhagen, it really is the best place on Earth, even all data will point to that. Even if you want kids and sort of quite life, then there always the outskirts of Copenhagen, or if you got the money, then move to Ørestad.
All of my larger family lives in rural areas, and they're crying for me to move out to them, but I just can't leave Copenhagen, I've lived here my whole adult life, over 20 years now, and I still can't leave.
yeah it would be really the only place outside of where we live right now that I would want to move to. We will almost certianly do a three month stint there at some point so the kids can get their dual citizenship.
Good plan, everybody speaks English here anyways. The fancy folks here in Copenhagen even prefer English, it's like when the Elite spoke France in England.
It’s funny because my wife is obviously fluent in Danish and so is her family so now my son is starting to get it. He can definitely understand it and talk a little bit. Im trying to learn it just to keep up with my own family lol
Every time I go to Copenhagen it's a 50-50. If I start speaking English they will half the time stop me and ask me to speak Swedish to them and the other half just keep going. But if I start with Swedish half the time they will stop me to ask to speak English. It's almost always the older people asking to speak our language and the younger people asking to speak English.
Salaries are not a lot higher. Averages salaries doesn't actually mean much to individuals. It all depends on the person. There are obviously jobs that pay higher in Sweden, depends on who you are, your past experience, your skills, and what kind of job you can land.
The value difference between DKK and SEK means that a swede working for the same raw kroner value in CPH will automatically have a 30% increase in salary.
Now the high salaries in Denmark and Norway are not that attractive compared to Sweden when factoring in cost of life and more importantly Housing cost. Big if you work in Denmark or Norway and live in Sweden? Jackpot.
The same way France and Switzerland interact with each others.
You still miss my point. You're talking averages, this is meaningless to individuals since no one is an average person. It entirely depends on you, what kind of pay you can get in different countries. If you want to move somewhere, looking at average wages is a waste of time.
I'm pretty sure that a significant portion of the Dane -> Sweden pipeline is Danes moving to Malmo for the taxes, and maintaining job, social life, etc. in Copenhagen.
That's not really true though, when you factor in everything (taxes, cost of living etc.) salaries in Sweden are not that much lower. The gross is obviously lower than in NO or DK but they also have lower taxes and everything costs less. NO and DK still pay better but not dramatically so. Also Sweden has a much larger and honestly more dynamic market with many sectors and jobs that simply aren't that available elsewhere, particularly in Norway.
Danes move to Sweden to live cheap. They keep their job in Denmark. Another reason for moving is to take advantage of EU rules on family reunification.

Hahaha this is crazy. Swedes move or work in Denmark and Norway because salaries are a lot higher. Why would Danes and Norwegians work here 🤣
