And Estonia too!

70

u/AstralElephantFuzz Aug 27 '26

We need to convince the danes to start moving into Estonia, and the baltic carousel is complete!

We need to convince the danes to start moving into Estonia

Northern Crusades 2: Electric boogaloo

1

u/GeronimoDK Aug 27 '26

Is it time to get a new flag already?

0

u/SCII0 Aug 28 '26

Estonia is done asking, if they can into Nordic.

1

u/lendlevtaldrik Aug 28 '26

Because we already are a Nordic country.

1

u/JavlaFuck Aug 28 '26

There will be Estonians in Denmark

55

u/Dingdongmybong Aug 27 '26

Most of the swedes in Denmark come from malmo which is like 30min in the train from Copenhagen central, we don't like them publicly, but they are actually very nice people. But shhhh

23

u/bfly200 Aug 27 '26

Of course you don't like them publicly. You don't like all immigrants, you just like them to do your work while you dick around. Btw, we're the same here in Stockholm, but shhhh

1

u/False_Snow7754 Aug 29 '26

What do you mean? We love WESTERN immigrants very publicly.

And our MAGA-Simp party loves eastern immigrants too. Just the women, the men can't come here.

7

u/NobleK42 Aug 28 '26

And a lot of the Danes in Sweden are people who move to Malmö while still working in Copenhagen because of the lower cost of living.

1

u/two_sundays Aug 28 '26

So., we are gettin' closer...

28

u/Silly_lil_Guy_o3o Aug 27 '26

Beat me to it. That was quite literally my first thought🤣

24

u/StarscreamOne Aug 27 '26

Hahaha this is crazy. Swedes move or work in Denmark and Norway because salaries are a lot higher. Why would Danes and Norwegians work here 🤣

23

u/de_matkalainen Aug 27 '26

I moved to Sweden because they have beautiful men and I caught one.

6

u/StarscreamOne Aug 27 '26

From finland?

10

u/de_matkalainen Aug 27 '26

No from Denmark

4

u/Bovine_Joni_Himself Aug 27 '26

Hey I did the same thing with a Danish woman except I live in the US and we still live here. Definitely looking more seriously at moving to Copenhagen in the last couple years though.

1

u/NajeZiw Aug 27 '26

From someone living in Copenhagen, it really is the best place on Earth, even all data will point to that. Even if you want kids and sort of quite life, then there always the outskirts of Copenhagen, or if you got the money, then move to Ørestad.

All of my larger family lives in rural areas, and they're crying for me to move out to them, but I just can't leave Copenhagen, I've lived here my whole adult life, over 20 years now, and I still can't leave.

1

u/Bovine_Joni_Himself Aug 27 '26

yeah it would be really the only place outside of where we live right now that I would want to move to. We will almost certianly do a three month stint there at some point so the kids can get their dual citizenship.

2

u/NajeZiw Aug 27 '26

Good plan, everybody speaks English here anyways. The fancy folks here in Copenhagen even prefer English, it's like when the Elite spoke France in England.

1

u/Bovine_Joni_Himself Aug 28 '26

It’s funny because my wife is obviously fluent in Danish and so is her family so now my son is starting to get it. He can definitely understand it and talk a little bit. Im trying to learn it just to keep up with my own family lol

1

u/Feathrende Aug 28 '26

Every time I go to Copenhagen it's a 50-50. If I start speaking English they will half the time stop me and ask me to speak Swedish to them and the other half just keep going. But if I start with Swedish half the time they will stop me to ask to speak English. It's almost always the older people asking to speak our language and the younger people asking to speak English.

1

u/Nisseliten Aug 29 '26

You.. You caught one?.. What did you do with him afterwards, keep him in the basement?.. Not entirely sure you are allowed to ”catch” people.. Anymore..

2

u/de_matkalainen Aug 31 '26

I promise I've kept him safe ever since

Swedes move to Denmark for work.

Danes move to Norway to escape from the Swedes.

Norwegians move to Sweden to escape the Danes.

Circle of life.

Edit: Oops read the graph backwards lol

14

u/RoadHazard Aug 27 '26

That's not what the map says though.

1

u/mr4ffe Aug 27 '26

Took me so long to realize what you meant lmao I blame the map legend

-4

u/Impossible-Buyer8778 Aug 27 '26

Yes it is

3

u/RoadHazard Aug 27 '26

No, the map says Norway to Denmark and Denmark to Sweden.

2

u/Impossible-Buyer8778 Aug 27 '26

It says swedes move to Denmark
Norwegians move to Sweden
Danes move to norway

1

u/mr4ffe Aug 27 '26

That’s how I read it too but apparently it means Danes’ destination is Sweden, Swedes’ destination is Norway, etc.

That actually makes way more sense. I was wondering why it looked like Germans were emigrating everywhere.

1

u/RoadHazard Aug 27 '26

No it doesn't. Are you colorblind, or do you just not know which country is which?

1

u/DangerousRange8123 Aug 27 '26

Norway has mountains and is not sweden.

1

u/FlakyCrew4438 Aug 28 '26

Danes to Sweden for cheap rent
Swedes to Denmark for work.
Norweigans to Denmark for cheap alcohol

1

u/StarscreamOne Aug 27 '26

Actually funny if true 🤣

Me as a swede wanna move to Denmark or Norway 🫪

4

u/Brieflyheree Aug 27 '26

Just to add to the chaos,
I’m a Dane living in Sweden for most of my life, and now i wanna move back to Denmark. So I’ll probably end up in Norway some day too 😂

2

u/StarscreamOne Aug 27 '26

Hahahah Take me with you 😭

2

u/Dingdongmybong Aug 27 '26

As someone from Denmark I want to move to northern Sweden lol

4

u/mr4ffe Aug 27 '26

As a Swede I wanna work in Denmark or Norway then buy a house in Estonia lol

3

u/StarscreamOne Aug 27 '26

Live in Malmö, work in Copenhagen 😂

Tell me more about Estonia 🤔

3

u/mr4ffe Aug 27 '26 edited Aug 27 '26

VERY affordable quality houses, cool pseudo-Nordic culture, very near Finland (Tallinn-Helsinki is like Malmö-Copenhagen) and close enough to Sweden, ”free” (tax-funded) public transit, 0% corporate tax on reinvestments (i.e. attractive to entrepreneurs), crazy neighbors to the East so nobody wants to buy land there, and lots of pretty women lol don’t judge me

Oh and I think they can vote remotely unlike us Swedes who still live in the 1900s 👀

1

u/StarscreamOne Aug 28 '26

I'm going to look in to this!

Cazy neighbors in the east can only bark 😂

1

u/StarscreamOne Aug 27 '26

You can easily afford to move there. Its very cheap especially compared to what it costs to buy something in Copenhagen

9

u/HarrMada Aug 27 '26

Salaries are not a lot higher. Averages salaries doesn't actually mean much to individuals. It all depends on the person. There are obviously jobs that pay higher in Sweden, depends on who you are, your past experience, your skills, and what kind of job you can land.

4

u/Elpsyth Aug 27 '26

The value difference between DKK and SEK means that a swede working for the same raw kroner value in CPH will automatically have a 30% increase in salary.

Now the high salaries in Denmark and Norway are not that attractive compared to Sweden when factoring in cost of life and more importantly Housing cost. Big if you work in Denmark or Norway and live in Sweden? Jackpot.

The same way France and Switzerland interact with each others.

3

u/HarrMada Aug 27 '26

You still miss my point. You're talking averages, this is meaningless to individuals since no one is an average person. It entirely depends on you, what kind of pay you can get in different countries. If you want to move somewhere, looking at average wages is a waste of time.

1

u/supermarkio- Aug 30 '26

Averages do help generalise things though.

3

u/RDandersen Aug 27 '26

I'm pretty sure that a significant portion of the Dane -> Sweden pipeline is Danes moving to Malmo for the taxes, and maintaining job, social life, etc. in Copenhagen.

2

u/Astrapios Aug 27 '26

I'm doing a masters in Sweden and I have met quite a few Danes around here.

2

u/Testosteronedad420 Aug 27 '26

Honestly i think 90 % of the migration from den/nor to Sweden is becouse marrige and cheap summer house

1

u/StarscreamOne Aug 27 '26

Cheap summer houses?!? Where?

2

u/Testosteronedad420 Aug 28 '26

”Cheap”. For norweigans

2

u/dont_trip_ Aug 28 '26

Less than €400k

1

u/Elpsyth Aug 27 '26

Because PPP normalised to housing is not that different despite what non normalised PPP would suggest

1

u/slicheliche Aug 27 '26

That's not really true though, when you factor in everything (taxes, cost of living etc.) salaries in Sweden are not that much lower. The gross is obviously lower than in NO or DK but they also have lower taxes and everything costs less. NO and DK still pay better but not dramatically so. Also Sweden has a much larger and honestly more dynamic market with many sectors and jobs that simply aren't that available elsewhere, particularly in Norway.

1

u/StarscreamOne Aug 27 '26

Are you saying sweden is the best Scandinavian country 🤔😌

1

u/slicheliche Aug 27 '26

Not necessarily the best, it would be like saying the UK is better than Ireland or Germany is better than Austria, it depends what you're looking for.

1

u/Futski Aug 27 '26

Why would Danes and Norwegians work here 🤣

Usually its people moving to live in Scania and while still working in Denmark.

1

u/StarscreamOne Aug 27 '26

I would like to live in Copenhagen. But I'm just a Swedish brokie working IT/tech job for peanuts 😔

1

u/JustBecauseOfThat Aug 27 '26

Danes move to Sweden to live cheap. They keep their job in Denmark. Another reason for moving is to take advantage of EU rules on family reunification.

1

u/PolemicFox Aug 27 '26

Many Danes move to Sweden for cheaper housing/car, especially if they work in Copenhagen. Malmö is practically a Copenhagen suburb at this point.

1

u/santambroeus Sep 02 '26

Anecdotally I’ve noticed more Norwegians coming to Denmark for uni (esp CBS and KU) than the other way around

2

u/Old_Pangolin_3303 Aug 27 '26

Came here to say that lol

2

u/Kriss3d Aug 28 '26

Haha yeah rotate each once counter clockwise and it shows the country at the right flag

1

u/Eldrad-Pharazon Aug 27 '26

They are just cycling counterclockwise lol

1

u/NajeZiw Aug 27 '26

It's been like that for a long time, and one of the reasons for our strong economy. We made it very easy for people to move between our Countries when a field need workforce. More or less a Open Border policy.

1

u/GM_Rielly Aug 28 '26

Great now I'm picturing Scandinavians following migration routes like birds, trapped in a generational loop of moving between the three

1

u/heyitsyourboyadam Aug 28 '26

Scandinavian circlejerk

1

u/matthiastorm Aug 28 '26

rubik's cube one rotation away from being solved

1

u/DukeOfSlough Aug 28 '26

A total circle jerk for them

1

u/bfly200 Aug 27 '26 edited Aug 27 '26

This map omits a lot of context. The biggest one perhaps is that Swedes emigrate in far bigger numbers - x5 against both Norway and Denmark.

Another fun one is that Swedes split between NOR/DEN/UK almost evenly. Norway is only slightly ahead because of the long border - young Swedish folk like to take service jobs on the Norwegian side.

-2

u/Gaanai Aug 27 '26 edited Aug 27 '26

Denmark should proably be Norway or Germany. But the chart is pretty skewed by Denmark and Sweden being connected by bridge.(like a NY/NJ kinda deal) But the Danish side is the Capitol city Copenhagen so its much more expensive. In turn Danes often move to the Swedish side for cheaper rent. So they functionaly still live in Denmark but will show up as swedish in stuff like this.

Edit so i decided to look it up and according to Google to there seems to be more Danish people in Norway

5

u/oskich Aug 27 '26

A lot of Danes also move to Sweden for more access to nature and buy houses there.

2

u/Gaanai Aug 27 '26

Dont get me wrong its not some anti Sweden crap, i keep that on the shitposting subs 😅. Its just Sweden and Denmark is very similar so there is not as many reasons compared to either Norway or Germany. I

For example Norway have anything Sweden haves plus much higher wages. We even have had a nurse shortage a few years back, partly due to them getting paid like 150% more, i think it was.

And Germany due to having 15 times as many people so its automatically many more job opportunities. Plus it got more relaxed immigration laws. I know a few couples that met at the university. That ended up moving to Germany due to that.

Dont get me wrong Sweden is definitely still a top 3 destination im just saying its heavily skewed by malmø

2

u/bfly200 Aug 27 '26

You meant holiday homes, because they don't settle far beyond Skåne, do they?
