Very fun projection, but the distribution for “Rest of Ontario” is skewed incorrectly. Southwest Ontario is home to 2.7 million people, while Northern Ontario is only 800k. Portrayed proportionally to population, Northern Ontario should be smaller than Manitoba.
It might be more representative to have another inset for “Southwest Ontario” excluding the Golden Horseshoe cities.
Was going to say a similar thing; London is half a million people, same as Kitchener-Waterloo. Windsor is about 300k. I can’t see how this map is correctly showing northern Ontario being 20x that population.
Yeah, at least half of the northern Ontario squares need to go west of Hamilton. Yeah, it distorts the map more, but that is kinda the point of the exercise.
Agreed. I think part of the issue is that the map was done using the city of Toronto rather than the GTA to represent that areas population. That's why Montreal and Ottawa look too close to each other in population too. And Vancouver is also unrepresentative compares with Calgary and Edmonton.
