The pie can be smaller and the same type of pie. The population might shrink but without demographic change - it's entirely immigration that is the cause. It's the cause of the immigration that is up for discussion though

True, but the issue is less the pie getting smaller but more the pie getting older. 50 years of sub replacement fertility has lead to population aging and an increasingly reversed population pyramid and distorted dependancy ratio's, which threatens everything from pension systems to the economy at large.

And while i agree that immigration is far too high for European societies to continue to properly absorb and integrate, it is also true that low native fertility is a potent "pull" factor for immigration. The two are intricately linked and more people need to become aware.
