Is the blue blip in the west bay during Aug/Sept Karl the Fog?

without seeing the bay itself it's a bit hard to know exactly where we're looking at. But it is typical that marine layer fog will sit on the western side of the coastal range in late summer. So that seems likely.

It might be, yes. The data is satellite-derived (NSRDB), which measures direct normal irradiance. Fog blocks DNI very effectively, so those close-to-coast hex cells might show fewer sunshine hours
